Thinking about going back to StyleXP, but WB4 has so many cool stuff and pretty skins... Dammit, what a choice to make....

Strange...I don't see a 'lag'...and I'm using one of my own cruddy skins resplendent with bugs and incompletenessnessness...

Ummmm, I don't think there is much of a choice involved here.....
WB4 is clearly superior.

Haha, I've noticed that with every new version, my computer lags alot more than the previous one when using WB

I have a P3 1.0Ghz with an ATi Rage 128 Pro w/ 32MB @ 2x AGP @ 1280x1024x32

=\

Great, go back. Why talk about it. Do what you want.

Powered by SkinBrowser! Can't believe someone crying about a 1/2 sec. or a couple seconds. You have that much to do that you have to capture that insignificant amout of time.

Wtf, its like 30 seconds to a minute waiting at times, and when changing themes its well over a minute

It takes alot longer than 1/2 sec. to a couple seconds

Clearly a case of wanting to be u63r 733t.

Sigh, I would hardly consider myself "l33t", I put the 3 in there instead of e for no apparent reason other than it being a habit

Well, if you need help you should consider to formulate your "question" and "topic" differently. There is a slim chance that people here will repond to it seriously.

I made no question to be stated, I'm just complaining to some extent that it lags a whole lot, and I now have StyleXP installed

sounds like a rare case then, (or somthing stated already). Never had any problems with lagging over here... not even Üb3r lagging.

People still cant get it right... StyleXP is not program its crack.

MSSTYLES never gets updated same as it is since October 2001, how often does WB get updated new tweaks features performance and other things added.... couple weeks to month.

WB does not slow PC down unless its an animation skin which runs all the time, plus its down to skin author on how the UIS etc is getting painted.... streching everything on a skin will slow you down and same with alot of 32bit images. Plus most important thing, WB4 needs *.WB4 for cache for better speed on the skin which is good thing.

Maybe you should look into how to skin WindowBlinds yeah?

That might be a little 'overage' for that graphics card

Yes...as yrag pointed out, it's quite possibly that you are pushing the graphic card too hard...

Wouldn't think so. That resolution doesn't seem exagerated for that gfx card.

I think your puter probably has a problem if it's as bad as you say.

Personnaly I found that Windows slows down A LOT over time. It's been true for every version, and I found that XP is no different.  I like to reformat and a clean reinstall of everything about once a year, 18 months max.  It's amasing the difference it makes.
Other than that, when's the last time you defraged?

One thing that may slow things down is an overzealous virus checker. Might need to tell it to ignore any file types specific to WB that can't contain viruses. ie .WB4, .uis, .sss, .xps, .xp, .ssd and maybe even .bmp, .tga depending on how aggressive your virus checker is.

Good thinking PJ.

Some virus checkers such as Nortons as set as default to scan ALL file type as they are loaded. If you have Norton, make sure you do not have "Comprehensive file scanning (recommended)" checked. This will scan every single file as you open them, and therefore considereably slow the skinning down.  Instead, select SmartScan, and select yourself the file types to scan. You can leave it to SmartScan's default settings, it doesn't include image types.
If you have another virus checker, look in oyur options, you may have something similar to that although it may be called something else.
