No advertising

Sunday, May 11, 2003 by paxx | Discussion: WinCustomize Talk

Just would like to remind everybody that this board is not for promoting your website, your software or anything else you may sell or even give away. The last thing we want is to have this board floaded with advertisements.

If you think that you offer a service that is worthy to be of interest by the skinning community, use the Submit News link at the top of this page.  We'll look at it, and if we feel it's something our members would like to know, we'll make it public.

Exile? No, didn't think that was necessary. I guess he didn't know any better.

Well, I'm not concerned about what he offers or not on his web site, really. The point is that we don't want people polluting the messageboard with advertisement to their own web site, products or services.
If he directly offered warez on this site, then of course it'd be different.

Ok, I can understand that.
Personaly I am working on my own site, witch is about skinning and stuff, would it be adverticing if I posted a link to it, with the reason if I wanted to know if it would be good enough to offer as webdesign?

I notice that Yahoo! Groups has a problem with ad bots spamming Yahoo! Group discussions. I don't go to Yahoo! Groups much anymore because all the spam bots really turn me off from it.

Then it's ok to promote your commercial products in the uploads section...right?

I've noticed on the odd occasion that some skins have an "if you would like to donate $x to me..." Paypal button against their designs. They are still free to d/l but are they classed as a commercial product or not? And I'm guessing that it's still ok to put a link to your own website on your own uploads, whether that's a commercial one or not?

essorant....we're talking about spamming the message board with commercials/self-promotions.....what goes into an upload 'description' is something else...but merely subject to decorum and good taste...
