Curved Monitor

Is it worth it?

Sunday, July 30, 2017 by Chasbo | Discussion: Personal Computing

Just wondering what you all think of curved monitors? I just got a 27" Samsung with the curve. So far I like it. At first I noticed the curve but It's getting to the point I don't notice it. They say you get a more immersive experience. I don't know about that but it's sure nice on the eyes and the extra real estate on the desktop is great! I'd give this monitor A+

LMAO!!!

Also Jim next time add a picture of me next to Lightstar. Tom is on the center monitor. After all you do have 2 other monitors in case you want me on my own monitor.

With the 55 inch, I don't have to wear my glasses.  My plasma (65 inch) 3D is in the living room.  When I go to the store and see the 55 inch curved Samsung it does look like its 3D even though its not.  When my plasma goes teats up I will replace it with a 75inch curved Samsung.

I have a 34" LG. Any wider than that I would recommend a curved screen.

I HAD 34 inch LG - for about 2 weeks. Curved one. Then it developed vertical line of colored pixels on the left side, so i had to return it. I actually found it not to be that big - i mean it was wide all-right, but the height was rather underwhelming. Did not feel much of an upgrade against my old 24 inch HP display in this regard.

So instead of taking the same model as part of RMA i paid bit more money and got 38 inch HP Z38c. Hope it wont break like the LG, cause this one is absolutely perfect. Not only i am OK with the size now, it has objectively better qualities like less backlight bleed (you could see some in the corners of the LG in the dark, this one is almost perfect, and subjectively i feel like this one has overall better picture/colors... I am really, really happy so far and would definitely recommend.

I'm currently running two 32" UHD TVs side by side as monitors, but if I were to ever invest in a curved screen I'd likely go for a 48" - 50" UHD curved TV.  It'd be enough for what I'd ever need, but given that I'm quite happy with my current setup, I don't see it happening any time soon.

Yeah, really nice monitors.  I like Samsung products, especially their monitors.  I had a couple back a few years ago.

I quit the smokes 12 years ago but I don't use those vapor things.  I pretty much went cold turkey and never had issues with cravings, so I don't really need 'em.  But hey, congrats on quitting the cigs.

I vape for the flavors, and I chase clouds. I use zero nicotine juice.

I don't need to vape, but I do enjoy it.

Different strokes for different folks, I guess.  I personally don't see an attraction to vaping, but if you enjoy it and find pleasure in it for the different flavours then that's fine.

I know some people who use[d] it as a cigarette replacement and need it [or a smoke] for the nicotine buzz, but when the vaping wasn't giving them enough of a hit they went straight back to the smokes.  I was fortunate in that I wasn't plagued by uncontrollable cravings the last time.... which fortunately was successful.   I tried and failed many times before that, though, so I know only too well how hard it is to quit.

Quoting WOM,

I love the big Samsung curved TV's.  Will get one when TV goes out.  Not sure about as a monitor as I'am using a 55 inch at the moment.

How do you work with a 55" monitor?  My nexk would get tired from turning my head from side to side.

There's no need to sit right in front of it.Instead it's more than possible to sit 3mtrs (9ft) away & everything is clear as day. However in dual monitor mode if you have a monitor in front & the tv to one side (mine is 20" away & not butted up) ,it's not an issue all that's required is to sit back in the seat or recline at your desktop. This means you don't actually turn your head as it's unnecessary, you just use your eyes. There's no straining anything.Best thing is sitting & working from the couch

So I'm thinking about a Kogan 35" curved screen monitor as a possible replacement for the 32" TVs I've been using as monitors.  It looks like a nice size and will suit my needs.  I don't need super hi-def so it would be adequate for what I want to do.

So I stopped thinking about it..... I bought one.... a 35" monitor.

Should get it around 19 - 20 March.... which means some reorganising in the puter room to make room where I want to put it.

Hopefully the vertigo buggers off so's I feel up for it.
