Of course animals feel pain, if they didn't then they could not survive in a physical world.
The question for these great scholars should be, "How is that pain perceived by the fish"?
All to often, animal right's groups try to convinvce us in order to promote themselves for gain and profit oe hidden agenda, the idea that animals "think and feel as human beings" and going so far as to try and make us believe that animals are on the same spiritual plane as mankind.
Last time I checked, God didn't send his Son into the World to save animals for Eternity, but actually gave mankind the right to harvest animals for food.
We as pet owners do give our loved pets a "human" distinction, and the Veterinary Industry knows and capatalizes upon this, but their agenda is open and useful.
My question is, "What is the true agenda behind animal rights and their promoters and supporters"?

I'll feel bad for the Blackened Cajun Red Fish, Garlic Lemon spiced Snook and or Grouper Fingers as I dip them into my mouth.Banning Fishing in a state like Florida would never pass. Though they should ban Fining hands down and let the Sharks make a come back.

Fuzzy Logic: Its not that we have barely evolved more like we de-evolved in the Conciuos (sp) while evolving intellectually since at least way way back man understood he was part of something larger. Now we have the arrogance of we are the only thing on planet with religion and our religion says we own and can kill anything we want and we have an opposable thumb to prove it mentality.
Yes animals kill other animals...usually for food and occationally for defense, sometimes over mateing and very rarely for FUN or their own kind, humans kill for food, in defense and offensivly as well when angered, kill over minor gerivences as well as serious ones, will kill one man over another mans wife and often for Fun. Somehow seems the animals are smarter in the end.

.....Mankind has the ability to freely choose how he will use his bestowed gifts as a human being, and all too often a few will choose to abuse those gifts to the utmost degree.
But it is our personal actions of free choice as individuals that we will answer for in the end as created creatures of - Mankind.

All inhabitants of this planet have a right to dignity and 'humane' (odd word...) treatment. Each should be treated with respect. It's strange how man is the cruellest animal on Earth but yet is the only one with an ability to show compassion and kindness. It's a pity some make the wrong choice. Some are more evolved than others it would seem.
Try to keep religion to the other thread - but that's another example of primitive human behavior. It falls in that area between becoming sentient and discovering identity. I find religious statement hilarious but also disturbing - it displays an inability to grasp reality.

I've done my share of fishing (underwater) and hunting (mostly ducks) and often cleaning up injured animals shot by people who couldn't hit the side of a barn with a Vulcan gun ..... a Kangaroo frozen in a spotlight just stands there and these morons still couldn't get off a clean head shot!
As for fish, try watching a Japanese long liner hauling sharks aboard and cutting off the tail and fins, then throwing the complete fish, alive and kicking overboard .... then we have the so-called 'Whaling Industry', and just for an extra bonus, the clubbing to death of Fur Seal pups!
I'm no vegetarian and I'm not a radical greenie .... but there is NO reason for any of this to take place.
