How can I make animated drop-down menus in DesktopX?

Tuesday, April 29, 2003 by Stu L Tissimus | Discussion: WinCustomize Talk

I've seen it in a few themes (I think), for instance, in the Alien Technology DX theme. So how do I do it?

hm, seems DesktopX is harder than LS if nobody knows how to do this.
my advice is to study the config files of the Alien Technology theme. i think is using code similar to the bouncing ball object (at least that´s how i would do it in LS). maybe the bouncing ball object comes with documentation. reading the manuals is always a good idea.

It'not as difficult as it seems.
Firstly, the menus themselves arn't animated, they just fade in and out. If you right-click a menu, select properties-appearance then look at the 'animation' and 'alpha-blending'
settings, you will see how this is done.
It is the objects above the menus that are animated. If you right-click the object (in this case a screw thread), and select appearance you will see what bitmap I used. It's a series of bitmaps joined together. You then have to again go to 'animation' which sets the number of frames.
