idea for windoblinds...

Sunday, April 27, 2003 by spinal | Discussion: WinCustomize Talk

I was thinking, how about a masked alpha function for buttons and edges, the same way as xp icons?, would help all those rough edges.

also, multiple colour changes, instead of just 1 colour, maybe 2 or 3, so that more than 1 part of the skin can be changed.

and, maybe colour masks, instead of just grayscale ones, so that thins dont just come out in shades of the chosen colour, but a range of colours, like of the mask had a gradient from white to blue, and the user set the colour to be a shade of yello, the result would be a gradient from yellow to green..

- just some ideas, hope someone with power considers them.

Tga's can be used for smooth edges in WB. Although as yet, window borders don't support any form of per-pixel blending. (Fingers crossed though)

spinal: I seem to remember a long time ago frogboy posting a skin that used a multicolour mask to demonstrate this. The mask caused a rainbow type spotty effect on the titlebar. I have done the same with one of my skins to demonstrate:

The spots are added by the mask. The original titlebar image is plain.
