But anyway, where I live high speed is already cheap, not much more expensive than dial-up. DSL or Cable is about $30.00/month (Canadian $ - which equate to about $20.00 US). It explains why a lot more Canadian are hooked up on high speed than Americans.

If they all end up able to, and it works, I think it would be the death of high-speed access over residential lines. I kind of doubt it would be much cheaper though. Once consumers get used to a price, there is no need for ISPs to lower it. If they can do it cheaper, it is just more profit.

bad thing about living in countryside :/Been waiting 2 years for ADSL, never! going to get cable.
BT wanted to sell me ADSL Satellite, £1,000 or so to install it £130 a month for access

and is taking even longer.Was kind of hoping because new Health Clinic went in last year, wee were all suppose to get ADSL but unfortunately that did not happen, so back to waiting game again.

I asked the phone company about ISDL, and the lady knew exactly what I was talking about, then she informed me, they have no intention of ever installing the equipment needed for IDSL....... grrrrrrrr >
