Wait for Psychoak....he seems to have a finger on the pulse....

Me, I've never even owned a system with AMD.....purely Intel through and through...

I'm certainly hoping so.  The specs on these new Ryzen do look encouraging, and they may well compete with some of Intel's current offerings, but then Intel has the knack [and the resources] to create something better and faster that out-do AMD's newest offerings.

Thing is, AMD competitively price their processors and budget-minded builders will gravitate towards them to build a decent [if not as powerful] machine without breaking the bank.  I did this several times in the past, where I would have liked one of the current Intel CPUs of the time, but opted for a high-end AMD chip that would serve me well.  I had a couple of Phenoms that were quite good, but the FX series were/are pretty decent units at a good price.

Hopefully the new Ryzen series is AMD's best yet and perfom comparatively with Intel's latest.

I've used more AMD computer powered machines than Intel.  I like AMD.

I have 2 AMD 6 cores that out performed my Intel core i7.  I now have 2 x 8 core AMDs.  Love AMD.

That said, I used to be an Nvidia man, sorta becoming an ATI/AMD man as well for graphics.

Same here!  I did have a couple of Intel Pentiums back in the day, and I currently have an Intel i7 4790K, but the majority of my machines over the years have been AMD powered.

I started out with a couple of Athlons, then went to a Phenom six core 1100T, and finally to the FX series with an 8320 to start, and finally to a 8350 Black Edition, which I still run today in my 2nd rig.

I'm not a fanboi, as such, but I do like AMD processors and am seriously considering one of the higher end ones from the new Ryzen series for my next upgrade... which now will be some way off since I spent my savings for it on a new air-con instead.  Who knows, the 2nd gen Ryzens might be out by the time I'm ready, though from what I've read thus far, this 1st gen series is quite okay,

Oh, and before anyone says they'll never be as fast as an Intel, I don't care.  As I get older I find the less need for speed, so if the Ryzen is a tad slower than Intel's i7, etc, then that's okay, too.  I can wait a while cos I've grown more patience in my old age as well
