Your Nicks Origin, Now we can all own up......

Thursday, April 17, 2003 by Stumpy | Discussion: WinCustomize Talk

I'm interested in the origin of Nicknames as some sound interesting, some funny, and some down-right hilarious.

Mine came about due to the fact I have an amputation below the left knee, leaving me with One and a Half legs (+ a new false leg)

And judging by this stupid post half a brain also

Come on Guys & Gals own up, the funnier the better.

Anybody here ever heard Joe's Garage by Frank Zappa? If you really want to know where my nick comes from you'll have to listen to Disc 1 OR download this wee .mp3 snippet http://members.rogers.com/phydeaux3/Phydeaux3.mp3 from my webspace.

Enjoy!

Slinky given to me by my sister when I was in the 7th grade. Been known by that for years, so when I got on the internet and had to pick a user name and it was taken. 1947 year of birth. Ergo slinky1947. (and I climb down the stairs in a very unique fashion)

fuzzy, for the second time you have posted a rather interesting definition of what "fuzzy logic" actually is, but not why you are called fuzzy logic

from what i have seen of FL's thinking, mistress fuzzy logic uses very linear logic, eg:
see chocolate -> eat chocolate
murassmeblade

lol the origins of my name are in themselves funny, ok back when the video game final fantasy 7 came out for PS in the game there are to twin high power swords.

the murasme and the masamune.

now about that or thereafter i signed up for AOL (BIG DAMN MISTAKE) anyway i needed to come up with a screenname, so i had just recently aquired the murasme sword in the game so the name stuck out in my mind.

so i entered murasme in the box and selected ok, it kicked me back saying the name was taken.

so i tried a variant, murasmeblade wich it accepted and i caried on my marry way into the internet.

not untill i registered at the tomb raider videogame forums did i realize that when i retyped the variant of the name i accidently double punched the "S" making it murASSmeblade, and the tomb raider forum told me i had a censored word in my desired nick and i couldnt use it.

for the past 4 years now i have retained the name, except at the website i built with some online firends www.gamingsocietyx.com wich i have changed my name to Phantom Helix™.

theres no story behind that name it just sounds cool.

sorry if that was a little long but to understand irony it was necassry

I had a small company that made aluminium flightcases, I called it "BoXXi Flight Cases", just because it was short and catchy and looked cool on the letterheads. When I first started out in skinning around 5 years ago, I was known as Mr.Mercury at some sites, but when DeviantArt deleted my account because I stopped using that name (when I changed to BoXXi), I lost all the walls and skins I made as Mr.Mercury, which included my first ever wallpaper!

There is a very old form of painting on cloth or fabric. The finished work was called a pictoratus. Ok, so I thought, making a skin, applying color to an existing canvas, so to speak. I don't know, maybe it's a leap, but in the immortal words of Felix the Cat "That sounds logical"

Yes, but in fuzzy logic if you take this a step further:

a = X is MY CHOCOLATE and X is YOUR CHOCOLATE
b = X is MY CHOCOLATE or X is YOUR CHOCOLATE
c = not (X is MY CHOCOLATE)

Then we can compute the following values.

height age X is MY CHOCOLATE X is YOUR CHOCOLATE a b c

Therefore Xabc = MY CHOCOLATE

Simple...

I'll bet mine isn't from what you think! It's not from the computers pointer thingy, (anyway, I use a trackball), it's because I collect ceramic mice! My OTHER nic is LindaMouse, since 1975, so accept no substitutes!

fuzzy, while you are trying to convince me logically, i will simply look cute, and spank anyone who tries to take my chocolate away from me!

in your logic, is X an operator or a variable? it looks sort of like a multiply operator to me

if it is a variable, you seem to be using it to represent more than one thing in the same equasion.

feline concludes that fuzzy's logic is not type safe
so, assuming that fuzzy's logic works, then we need non type safe logic, so we need a weekly typed language.

so, since C is a strongly typed language, you cannot use C. and since you cannot use C, you cannot use pointers to directly access my chocolate store!

feline thinks that while everyone is trying to work out what all this means, i will be free to run off with ALL of fuzzy's chocolate!!!

Mine's just a non offensive curse word from long ago. Every once-in-a-while I'd say it in a group of friends when I'd do something stupid or painful and nobody ever knew what the hell I was talking about, so I kept the word. If you ever choose to say "Flibbertygibbets" make sure that you pronounce it "FlibbertyFRIGGINgibbets" or you'll sound like Mary friggin Poppins!

While feline applies C in vain (struggling with the imposed limits it presents), craeonics sneaks into Fuzzy's Chocolate Stash via the ASM route.

NOOOOO!!! No-one touches my chocolate >

X is a variable. It can be YOUR CHOCOLATE or MY CHOCOLATE. abc is 'all bring chocolate'. Naturally as this is fuzzy logic when the formula is applied Xabc = MY CHOCOLATE

For anyone still not clear I can demonstrate...

There sure are a lot of catchy nicks out there.
Mine is so easy: blindbatt
blind: unable to see well, my monitor is so close to my face that if I wear my glasses I can't see my sceen, blind.
batt; it has an extra t, but it is a flying mammals. They see poorly too. I see fine with my contacts or glasses.
