CerebroJD: Up to you. Advertising is not a huge issue here and we don't want to encourage it, but I doubt anyone here is going to force opinion one way of another.

Well to be fair in a way he's really just trying to interest some skinners in doing skins for his proggy which isnt that bad a request and he is offering something for their efforts at least. I say unless he spams the group its not so big a deal. Heck, I'd love it if trillian would makle such an offer so more ppl were interested/liked makeing skins for Trillian myself (can you say ToonXP Trillian skin)

I think if it was gonna go anywhere it should go on the news section. I personally don't see anything wrong with putting up some news about a skinnable piece of software which you can get for free (or a discount) if you create a skin for it. Of course it's up to the admins what they allow on the site.

Yeah I suppose if they was gonna do it they did it pretty nicely. Its a good request. Maybe if we had enough interest we would end up with a section at this site if enough people were making them.

it seems to me he isn't advertising... he is just saying if someone wants to skin the program they can get a discount on purchasing it. That is if you use the program anyway or willing to try it.
And yeah, if Trillian would do something like that it would be cool.

I think that if one wishes ppl to skin their new app they should simply ask... many skinners are looking for a new challenge... and if you have difficulty finding a willing skinner offer some recompense for a few skins untill you have a small library... the 50% off is quite cheezzyy

There is nothing wrong with this message. It's not advertisement, he's requesting the great skinners here to make skins for his program, and he's ready to give a copy of the proggy for free. I wish all skinning software makers would do that.
