Help with graphics....

Hello everyone... I am wanting to start making my own graphics for desktops and such but I need some programs to do it with... What programs do u all use to create your desktop backgrounds? All replies and appreciated....

I use Bryce 5 and some Adobe photoshop.

I still use Photoshop 5.5, can't find a reason to change....

Microsoft Paint....
Nah, just kidding... Fireworks here.
I'll occasionally use Paint for a very quick edit but hardly ever.
