Can someone help me with the TASKBAR in DesktopX?

Wednesday, April 9, 2003 by Syrek | Discussion: WinCustomize Talk

Does anyone know how to make the taskbar work in DesktopX? When you make a new object, select taskbar, then use the "grow horizontal" setting.....it works just fine......the max size limit is by default set at 160, I figure that is the pixels size for the whole bar....I have tried to adjust that setting to 1280, which is the width of my screen, but it still never gets any bigger than 160....any ideas? Also, how do you get the "vertical" settings to work? I can get the horizontal settings to work, but as soon as I switch it to "grow vertically" it does not show up correctly.....any ideas on this?

If you don't get an answer to your problem as quickly as you'd like, just bump the thread to the top of the board by posting another comment,............. don't start a third thread about the exact same thing.
I've deleted your previous thread, now keep it all in this one, please.

Check the Width value on the summary tab. Make this a pixel or % value.

e.g. 100% fills the screen width

Thanks, that fixed the width problem, but how do I get it to "grow vertically down"...nothing I try works....what's the secret to this? The images don't appear right, even with the DEFAULT image.

Set a height like above and clear a width

What do you mean "clear the width"

I can get it to grow vertically down, but not when I want to use the text labels next to the icons

I have been trying to figure this out for 3 days now....I have come to the conclusion that when using the labels, you can get it to grow horizontally, but not vertically, there doesn't seem to be any way to get this done. If anyone out there has ever managed to get the taskbar in DesktopX to grow vertically using the labels (which is the window title) please let me know. I have not been able to get this done, and it seems like nobody else does either. What about the person who made this program...is there any help available from them????

A great place to pose this problem would be the DesktopX newsgroups. The creator of that program, and lots of other DX users, always read the threads and could offer help.

I don't think it is possible to have labels and a vertical taskbar at all
