Help with installing WB 4

Tuesday, April 8, 2003 by The DJ | Discussion: WinCustomize Talk

When I get it from CM, if wants to install under the Object Desktop folder and does not give me a choice of where to install it.

Problem is, I have WB 3.4 installed in which I did not install it from CM. After installing WB 4, all my previous skins are gone because it installs in a new folder (not my current WB folder).

Is there a way to install it in my current WB folder?

Dark Mist, you said in my other thread you never uninstall the previous version...still don't see how WB 4 will see my other skins in a different folder because it will still install it under the OD folder.

And for the record, you don't lose your skins when uninstalling right?

Well the question is was you previous version of WB installed from the component manager?

I guess I can always 'add' every skins again from the display properties manually but there should be a choice of where to install it.

Nevermind, I got my skins back...

Now my desktop icon text won't turn black anymore when I change my desktop color to 'white'...

I didn't uninstall WB3.5, and WB4 just was put in it's place...skins and the program itself are fine...however, my MS Works will not open. Is that maybe cause I didn't uninstall 3.5 first??

possible but it was advised so something must of been known to go wrong

Well, I did uninstall 3.5, and then installed 4, and with 4 on, MS works won't open.
However, if I unload wb4, then all is fine with MS...
is there a conflict between the two?

Sounds possible. Please give exact information on what version of MS works you have, and what skins you've tried (does it work with Blackcomb, for example . . . and if so, does it work with Blackcomb Plus, the UIS2 version?)

Also does a per-application setting such as "only skin the titlebar" help?

MS Works is version 6.0. As for skins it dosn't work with, Longhorn (including all sub designs), Copper Deck, Colony,Mozilla, XP Jeans, and XP Platnium, and SilverDoe...and I havn't tried all of the skins that I have downloaded.
However, it does work with Blackcomb, and MacPC.
I also get the error 'wbload.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close'.,
