Windowblinds 5 Sensation!

Tuesday, April 1, 2003 by Fuzzy Logic | Discussion: WinCustomize Talk

Despite Windowblinds 4 being released this week, it was announced today Windowblinds 5 development is well under way. Unlike its predecessors Windowblinds 5 will use a new skinning technology called 'virtual skinning' to complete the Windows skinning experience.

Tired of that bland coloured monitor frame? Well Windowblinds 5 will use its vitual skinning technology to expand the skin outwards to cover the monitor frame. The skins will also employ smart buttons for those of you with monitor controls.

With the latest version of SkinStudio now available some of the top skinners are already working on WB5 skins.

It's not known yet if virtual skinning will extend to peripherals. A Stardock spokesman was unable to comment further.

I feel sorry for the cat you have on your desktop screenshot. It's been asleep for weeks...

fuzzy, have you ever met a real cat?

we tend to sleep for weeks, and only move when no one is looking

I've met real cats. They are those cute furry things which are nice to cuddle tight but for some reason stop moving after a few minutes Not very good playthings really. You can't play with something that is still all the time

Maybe you guys can help we with this one. I recently downloaded a ripped copy of WB 6.1a. I know its ripped and all but I chose the option to skin my available skins. Now all my skins look alike. I know I can skin each skin to a separate skin but I can't get a new skin to show different than the old skin I skinned the rest of the skins as. I turned off the skinning the skin option but the skins I downloaded all skinned themselves and can not now be changed. Maybe if I skinned my skins as a new skin?

Help...

just a warning... be really careful if using Smart Buttons with WB 5.1. I changed the plugin (still only 4?) from rollup to lock on top before unrolling my monitor and now it's stuck on the ceiling...

Dave....that's a serious 'issue'. My bet is there is a dll hack for chairXP that will enable you to lay on your back to see the ceiling monitor.

donarumo...your problem is that you used Kazaa to get your WB6.1a......what you should have done was use Kazaa to DL a pirate copy of Napster....and use THAT to access the filez. It seems those Aussies coded Kazaa upside-down [bloody typical]...so what you actually got was MB9.1g

bug report: port 1337 is being left open by the newest build of WB 9.1a. I am using the 'hunky brazilian goucho' skin, and when I went and looked in the mirror I found that I had been the victim of an exploit. I will say, though, that the 'Margaret Thatcher' skin is very, *gulp* lifelike, but I am not crazy about the big 'U R 0wn3d' tattoo on my, well, forget it.

When do you think devart will get a section for this? I'm hoping they will be a little lax on the moderation...

wait... is this a joke thread... so it doesn't "...skin outwards to cover the monitor frame.."

I thought maybe the monitor frame was some part of the OS in XP that I didn't know about...

Joe...no, it's for real.
Apparently as early as WB4.5 BOTH SIDES of a window will be skinned, meaning if you were to look behind your monitor you'd see the exact same skinned effect as current WB releases do, only from behind them.
It means the skinns will need to be double-sided.

Very hi-tech...

...and wait 'till you get a feel of the keyboard. It will either reach out and touch you, reach out and grab you, or reach out and hurt you.. whichever skin you install. Watch those rips, though. There was this coding error... RIP
