PC Speed test

Monday, July 4, 2016 by gevansmd | Discussion: Personal Computing

I recently built a new PC with an octo-core AMD chip I'm overclocking at 4.5 ghz, 32 gb of memory, MSI GTX 960 gaming video card, MSI 970 gaming MB, and a 960 gb SSD drive.  Wondering how my set up compared to what else is out there now I downloaded and ran the speed test from the above linked website.  The results were disappointing.  Here's what it said:

Overall this PC is performing as expected (42nd percentile). This means that out of 100 PCs with exactly the same components, 58 performed better.

How could PCs using the same components be faster, and what can I do to bump up my score?

what can I do to bump up my score?
First, upgrade your 32 mb's of memory.

Next, pick a better benchmark tool, If on Win10, use http://win-experience-index.chris-pc.com/ for a general idea on performance. Here's mine, AMD Phenom II 965@ 3.4 GHZ, 8 Gigs RAM. GTX 650, Sandisc SSD.

As you can see. it toped out the GFX card, yet the site you linked to gave me a 21% score for it.

Go to Passmark.com for more reliable ratings of components.  The site you linked top seems to be incredibly underrating components.

You can also go to  www.pcpitstop.com  and get a totally accurate analysis of your machine. The benchmark you are using is a totally vendor supported tool designed to sell you their products.    -- Ace --

If you install ChrisPC Win Exp. Index, be sure to opt out of (decline) the extras.

Tried to run the pcpitstop test and I can't find the link it says is below.   I even clicked "here" to run the old test and all it does is send me back to the same place.

Drivers....BIOS updates....for starters...

Was curious about that ChrisPC proggy....

Gave the same results as the MS one [once MS WEI had finally caught up with what DDR4 was]
