Conflict Stardock Central-Component Manager?!

Monday, March 31, 2003 by Jeroen Verhoeven | Discussion: WinCustomize Talk

On my version 1.20 CM there is a 3.99 Windowblinds available. The latest on Central is 3.96.
So I downloaded 3.99 on my system through Component Manager. But is refuses to install because it says it detects a Stardock Central app.
In CM I cannot install.
In SC I cannot download and install.

What's up?

Jeroen

We are going to be asked to uninstall CM and only use SDC fairly soon. At some point, I think CM won't work at all. As I understand it, SDC has the most recent builds anyway. So you might consider that.

do you have tools>settings>applications "show pre-release alpha/beta versions" checked?

Definitely, that's the first thing I checked! Refreshing doen't help either. This is the issue I started with. No 3,99 on SDC, Yes 3,99 on my CM

I had heard that 3.99 was pulled because of, uhhh, *cough* anomalies...let me check on that.

I was told to ask if you are on the Atlanta server and if not, to switch to that and retry.

Ok, that might explain it. Allthough I am on the Atlanta server, I use version 0.92.123. I'll update to the latest version of SDC and get back to you (btw...how do I get the SDC update?)
Thanks for your advice!

in settings you can check to have SDC auto update itself on load.

Also, when refreshing SDC Data be sure to go to tools/refresh application data.I made the mistake of trying to right click on the OD tab for this to refresh, but it would not work.So try the other way as well.Hope your fixed up.

snarph: Hope you don't have that SARS crap.

if you currently have SDC, it should auto update itself. You can uninstall component manager using the unwise.exe in its directory.

Similar problem here; just a dialogue box saying "Your Stardock.net account (email) has failed to logon on the Stardock Central services." I've updated my info with the appropriate serial nos, but still no joy. Any ideas werewolf, anyone? Cheers.

I had a lot of problems with Stardock Central last week. What I did was before going to update application data in tools, I deleted all my cookies and temporary internet files. I even had to delete old threads in discussion. Everything is working fine now.I hope this helps!

Also, please verify your serial numbers and the .net password.

One thing that folks have been having problems with is the email address they've used. They may have ordered the product/subscription with one email address and put in a different email address in the SDC setup info. The correct email address to use is the one you ordered the product/subscription with.

Let me know if you're still having problems.
