Object Desktop

The only program I've been using (from SD) has been WindowBlinds (for the last year and a half). I've recently purchased the full OD package disk...and am about ready to install.
However, I see it comes *fully loaded* with every imaginable program. For now, I plan to load:
- Component Manager
- WindowBlinds (4beta)
- IconPackager
- Skin Studio
I guess my question is, should I try DesktopX (pros/cons?) and what other (if any) items in the package are absolute 'must-haves'?
Appreciate any input...

OOPS, I misread. I like DesktopX. It seems like an amazing program. When I have more experience with it, I will probably like it more. It is easy to use, or not use whichever option you like for the moment.
I used Object Sweeper just the other day and was quite pleasantly surprised with the space I gained. I couldn't live without Object Bar, and also Object Edit. Oh, and I LOVE windowFX.
Um... you will get a lot of value.. that is a sure thing!

Thanks for input gm...I gathered that WindowFX was geared towards those with Windows98 or 2000, I have XP. Maybe I didn't quite understand what FX does. 
Yes, I'm glad for the option of loading only the progs that I want (for now). Although I was just browsing the NextStart library...and THAT looks like a great prog too!

I use windows XP. If I remember right it works best with XP.

FX gives you lots of special effects for your windows. They slide, they glide, they twirl, they open and close like doors, they have lights.... and more, even! It makes windows dance!

Install completed...now for a couple (more) questions...
In the readme file I see the following:
Windows Terminal Server: before installing the
Component Manager, you should execute the following
command to ensure that the shared library files are
updated:
"Change User /Install" at a command line prior to installing CM.
"Change User /Execute" at a command line after installing CM.
Where do I "execute" those commands...and what exactly does "execute" entail? *please don't make do anything in DOS*
Also, how do I verify that the newer version of WB (3.9) has been installed? Looking at the the WB folder, it doesn't look like the .exe has been updated. ?

There is no DOS, so don't worry about that. This probably isn't a good time to tell you if you've already installed, but you should have downloaded Stardock Central(no more CM) although you can use both. Since you have CM installed use it for now. Download programs you want using CM and then use install feature in CM. It will tell you which verison you have installed. Have I confused you enough?????????

CM was installed automatically with the rest of OD components...so once I get everything set *just right* I will DL stardock central.
But based on the readme file (above) it says I should make those adjustments before installing CM...strange, since I wouldn't see the readme file until after I installed it.

So you should know when you use Stardock Central..it will download to a different folder (Stardock Folder instead of Object Desktop). Don't worry when it does that..your system will be using the correct version of all your programs. WB4 will be out this week so you can get that as soon as it is released.

I didn't understand that Terminal Server info myself when I first installed CM. It installed without a hitch, but I think it should have had a better explaination there. Either way SDC is replacing CM, so its a moot point now.

Don't overlook utilities like ObjectZip and Drivescan. They are really handy.
Also, WebBlinds will give Internet Explorer the same look as your current skin (or another of your choice)but has to be applied separately.
