Is it easy to have a web log {weblog} site

I don't have to but a special program or anything right? I realized that the site I want to creat is, in a sense, a web log of daily events that I go through and news stories I post or think about.
The more I read about blogs, the more I think what I am doing is a blog too, exept it isn't
I plan to have news stories and such, but also hopefully interviews and designs, skins, and other hilights on skining, web design, architecture and education. I also want to have tutorials, poetry and other crap.
But I have not seen a blog that does that.
I also wanted to have a news feed on my site, and from other blog sites and info on understanding investment terms, finance, and travel.
I guess what I am asking is, is my site a weblog? Do I want it to be a weblog? does anybody have a weblog? or thier own site and how much time have you put into it?

I think I am getting nervous because my site will be up soon. I should have tested it more. I think I'll wait and push the grand opening till later.

all day I have been trying to figure out what I want out of my site. new stories?? people signing in?? do I want to sell stuff?? I don't want to alianate anyone...

I am so excited.. and so scared at the same time. I'll be putting my ideas out on the net. Like making turorials for math, program script writing, and other junk..
In allot of ways, this is stuff I would be doing anyway because I am in school. Then there is other stuff that I just believe in like making web advertising deigns not annouying but fun or educational at least. (at the very least REALLY put some effert into designing them and stop treating people like they are stupid.)
And other stuff too, like helping lost kids and stuff.
Today was the first day that you can type in joetheblow.com and get my page... just one page
