Everywhere I go I here the same song. Over and over again. 7 videos before Noon and I find it even when I going to a country station.
What is up with that??? I wasn't trying to learn all the words and yet I find myself knowing them.
Please don't request the song anymore.
I am not in the club and I have no bottle of 'bub....
If I hug you I doubt I will end up rubbing you too... in the club that is.

That Kid Rock and Sheryl Crow is the one that bugs me lately. It's on every station. I don't really care for either one of their voices to begin with. I haven't been listening to the radio because I'm so sick of hearing it. Good thing I have a good CD collection for my hour commute each way!

I have an extremely large CD collection built up over the last 20 years...
I don't EVER listen to the radio except occasionally in my car while I'm changing CDs... hehe

I don't list to the radio because it's the same mainstream shit played over and over every 30 minutes which is pretty much what Joe was sayin.
Most of the mainstream rap is ridiculous today and I would prefer Underground anyday.
What's worse is my little cousin was watchin Nickelodeon and they had some little kid doin an Eminem song and acting out the video. Eminem is a great lyricist and anybody who says different really should listen to his freestyles, unreleased albums and other unreleased stuff. You gotta give credit where credit is due and you gotta give respect. The point is, what age group is Nickelodeon directed at again?
Then they have the commercial on Nickelodeon where they're showing the plastic jewelry or whatever for little girls and at the end the little girl holds up her arms and says 'bling bling'.
Gimme a break man. These are 8 year old kids with this dumb shit on tv. I'm a hip hop head and the only problem I have is this retarted stuff they're doin now. It's really really ridiculous.

I think people should request some of the old stuff that was really good. I personally think some of these artist are running out of fresh ideas. I like Linkin Park, they have great music. I listen to almost every song on their CDs, their new one just came out yesterday

The worst thing I ever heard was Backstreet boys, nsync, britney spears, christine aguliria (spelling) and any other boy and girl bands.
Oh yeah and rap.. anybody can take a lyric, make it ryhme, and turn on the keyboard for the music to go with it. that's not talent. talent is playing all the drums, guitars and such and singing.

Yeah, I like the BeeGees, especially their pre-disco stuff. Words and the 1812 Mining Disaster are among my favorites. Too bad Barry died (it was Barry wasn't it? I'm forever getting him mixed up with Maurice - he's the one with the incredibly high falsetto).
Mainstream radio has always been famous for playing a song to death. Remember "To Sir with Love" by Lulu - title song of movie by the same name? They played it 3 or 4 times per hour!
Now I listen to Jazz and Classical for the most part, with some older Blues thrown in for variety. On top of that (no offence DJ, I'm just old), I can't listen to Crap & Clip Clop (Rap and Hip Hop) - doesn't work for me at all!

Kona0197, when you get into REAL hip hop, it's not as easy as you think and a lot of thought and heart is put into it. I mean, I won't say you or Chef Garry are wrong because we all have opinions.
Hip Hop is a culture and if it wasn't for the DJ, none of it would of started. That's why I said I would prefer Underground anyday, rather than some of these ridiculous artists. These same Underground artist recognize the DJ and recognize the DJ started it all.
If you heard some Jurassic 5, Gang Starr, Eyedea, Atmosphere, Roots or Dilated Peoples to name some, you might not start loving rap, but you would probably realize that there is skill involved, it's not the same mainstream crap and it takes a little more than just simply writing lyrics down.
I will also tell you I love heavy metal, hard rock, jazz, easy listening (Deam Martin and the likes) and symphony and orchestra to name some other types of music I listen to. Of course I also listen to trance, tribal, drum n bass, house/progressive house and r&b because they are the main types of music I DJ. So I know this REAL music you're talkin about. I hear what you're sayin, but you have to open your mind to REAL hip hop. My brother also is a drummer and so am I but haven't been playing long. So I do have an open mind to music and I have to because that is a key feature of being a DJ.

I'm kinda old school... I believe that Hip Hop is a culture and includes many forms of music from rap, r&b, blues, jazz, and party records (as I call them, radio ready music)... don't forget spoken word and poetry and underground artists.
I love country music!! Classics from my Mom's day , and some heavy metal.
