MS will tell you when you'll be updated to W10.

After making Satya Nadella sob from shame, MS has now taken starkers criticism to heart and has changed its ways telling you when your planned update to W10 will happen, and this has been going on for the past couple or three months.
Not to worry, you can reschedule or cancel the upgrade. Thanks, Mark!

Is there a "Later" button I can click that will re-schedule it for after the heat-death of the universe?

I don't know that much has changed, the downgrade to Win 10 is still vigorously being pushed, albeit now with some warning and scheduled time and date. Wow, some long overdue consideration on MS' part. It's something that should have happened from word go... and with an easier way to refuse that was heeded by the 'almighty'. In my case, it was the only update that could be selected in WU, and even though I deselected it, Win 10 still downloaded and installed while my machine was unattended. Worse still, I was unable to roll back to Win 8.1... that option was 'greyed out' and the recovery partition was inaccessible.
I didn't want to go to Win 10, and I still don't like it, which is why I've been reluctant to put my main rigs back on line. However, for those who are interested, there is a new 3rd party program to disable the Win 10 update. It is called 'Never 10' and can easily disable or enable the update once installed. Now that this is available I will look at making those machines net enabled again.

I'm happy for you. I've not had much luck with updates thus far, but hopefully things will get better now. An update I neither needed or wanted kept borking my wi-fi after I'd uninstalled it several times; however, it hasn't come back for 3 - 4 days now, so hopefully I'll not see it again. For mine, Windows 10 would be a lot better if unnecessary updates weren't being forced along with security patches and etc.... and even then, restoring full access to Windows Update via the Control Panel would be better than the current set up.
Who knows, maybe MS will see sense and give users back some of those options.

Yes, that is an issue for many Win 7, 8.1 users who haven't installed/don't know about GWX Control Panel... those constant prompts to upgrade that keep popping up on screen. Some are even reporting 'upgeade to Win 10' spam in their inboxes. I've not seen that myself, but allegedly it is going on.
On a happier note, touch wood, my issue with updates borking my wi-fi seems to have been resolved... touching wood again, to be shure, to be shure.

I must have uninstalled that update a dozen times.... maybe after the 12th time MS finally got the message. Touch wood, it hasn't reappeared for about 5 - 6 days now.
I dunno, maybe it was worthwhile my pissin' n' moanin' after all. 
Now all I need in a Control Panel applet that gives me greater access/control to Windows Update and I could maybe even warm a little to Win 10.

It is no secret that I had problems here recently. Found this article this morning. I'm a bit behind as my job gets in the way of my computing. Hopefully, things will get better with Windows 10 but not holding my breath. Having said all of this, Win 10 is working well again but JMHO there is too much junk being forced on us. I haven't decided which has more junk - my computer or my Android phone. Based on the article below, I am not alone. Have a great day everyone.
