i use smartbarxp and i know what you mean rth. i've checked out desktop sidebar and codename dashboard and they are all short on skins. if i had any experience skinning i would try tackling a skin or 2. maybe 1 of the skinners here can help us out. would be nice if they were compatible with windowblinds even better.

Hmmm, that looks pretty cool. I read over most everything on the site and it doesn't say anything about the app being skinnable, and all the screenshots look the same. I'll have to try that puppy. Thanks for the link.

btw: shouldn't your nick be "Ruder *Than* You"?

As far as skinning desktop sidebar it comes with 3 different skins but I don't know enough about xml to make a good skin.

These are cool but they're not for Win98. Does anybody know if there is something out there for Win98 with news and weather?

Hey Gregory the one called codename dashboard you can use on win98 but you need to have .NET framework installed on your system.

Desktop Sidebar - Unlike advertised, it did not interface with Outlook XP or Outlook Express. This rendered most of the exciting features 100% unusable.

Aqua... I downloaded Desktop Sidebar yesterday and it interfaced with my version of Outlook XP (2002). I have all of my gradkids birthdays listed in the Outlook calandar and the Desktop Sidebar shows them without me doing any configuring at all with it. I have to assume that in order for it to interface with your system, you have to have been using it??
