Inspiration

Sunday, March 23, 2003 by Fungus | Discussion: WinCustomize Talk

I've made some object dock icons. That's fun (especially since we have a larger dimension size to work with). I had created a cursor set a long time ago, but nothing like what's capable with Cursor XP. Problem is, everytime I start to create a cursor, nothing really 'clicks'. Know what I mean?

btw, side note: what's the ideal size for CXP cursors?

Thanks!

Best place to get inspiration is everyday objects.
Anything from audio equipment to flowers has something that can be used as the basis of a work.
The thing to remember is that although you'll see a lot of great artists out there who never seem to make a bad skin, just remember that they have about 1/2 that many unreleased skins that were probably not very good.
Inspiration comes at the weirdest times, and sometimes you wait a long time between flashes of it.

Fungus, I think that Hippy gave you some real nice tips.

In my case, everything can inspire me, I allready did skin suites based on buildings under construction, pannel car buttons, hair brushes, light of hospital machine, etc...

Sometimes I stay weeks without even trying to make a skin, then sudenly I can make 5 new differnet templates in one single day.

Also my mood inspires me a lot, when I am to happy or to sad I produce better, when I am just ok, it is harder to find ideas.

About the cursors size: the best size of a cursor, is the one that you feel confortable using it, as for my taste, nothing bigger then 26x26 nor smaller then 22x22
