Cloud Storage
Are unlimited plans worth it?

So I have a few not so important files on a file storage site. I believe the site is only a couple years old so I am giving it a test drive to determine If I like it enough to upgrade. This site offers a lifetime unlimited subscription for a one-time payment of $200. That gives you unlimited storage, increased speed, yada yada yada.
What I am thinking is I would like to have another alternative than external hard drives to store over 400gb of music files. I was able to upload all my music to Google Play Music but Google Play down-converts my lossless flac files to mp3 files so that is not a good solution for me. I need large storage for my flac files which take up more space than mp3 files.
Do you think upgrading is worth that kind of cash? A lifetime account does not really mean lifetime but rather how long the site stays active for right? I would like to avoid monthly payments and just pay a one-time subscription which this site offers but then again perhaps monthly payments are safer as far as longevity of the site is concerned. Free is king but I have not found any cloud service that offers the amount of storage I need for free.
I would love to hear your thoughts and suggestions.

I have a WD MyCloud as well. Like Tom says, I can access my files from anywhere. I purchased the MyCloud empty, then added 2 X 2TB drives that I already had.
Works great for me. And no payments.
If you get the empty (driveless) version like I did, it is much cheaper. Just be aware that you can only use certain drives with it.
WD has a list of compatible drives on the product site.

The diskless version, add your own hard drives.

Just purchased a Western Digital Personal Cloud drive for your home and hook it up and configure it. I have one and can access my files from anywhere, on any computer I log into it on, and even from my cell phone. Mine is 4TB and I provide cloud space for two other individuals. They have their own personal cloud space. You can check the drives out ( HERE ), and I would definitely recommend checking out eBay or Amazon for the best deal.
