I do a 'reverse' Hendrix all the time with my mouse.... being left handed but using the mouse in my right.  Yeah, I could swap the button funtions around to use it in my left, but I find it more natural to use right-handed so I can do other stuff more efficiently with the left.... my better hand for fiddly stuff, etc.

Yeah, same here. I prefer Imperial cos it's what I grew up with and learnt at school.

And summat I wanna know, if metric is in multiples of 10, bla, bla, bla, do those mnetric countries who've always been metric sell eggs by the 10 instead of a dozen?   For mine, it'd sound bloody stupid going into a shop: "Can I have 10 eggs, please?"

Besides, I think metric is lazy!   It was invented by a lazy person to save lazy people having to work their minds a bit harder with a proper measuring system.  Not only that, he/she probably failed mathematics, and devised a multiple of 10 system because that's how many digits he/she had on his/her hands.

Then along came the Americans...not happy just to drive on the wrong side...they needed their own sized gallons...and tonnes .... Pommie ones weren't good enough....too big, obviously for delicate young settlements like the US of A ...

So they got all motor-description on us....with 'short' tonnes and 'long' tonnes  [I'll ignore the different spellings].

Made sense with a short motor and a long motor ....but short-sheeting a tonne was just a bit sneaky.

Then to keep cross-dressers of measuring systems happy there came along a 'metric tonne'.

FFS, people, enough already.

Architecture in the 70's was all about hard conversions and soft conversions....

Legislation of standards of dimension meant initially 8 feet had to be 2438 mm ... nothing more...nothing less...

Then there was a 'simplification' to 2440.

Ultimately regulations allowed 2400 [or about 7 feet 10 and a half] to 'become' 8 feet.   That was the 'soft' end of the transition....

But during the 5 years or so it was total mayhem...

I remember the reports of rioting and looting accompanying that...

The majority were not happy, especially when the road signs began to change. 

Another reason to go back to Imperial.... A 1/3 [third] of Scotch.... I mean, who ever heard of .3 of Scotch.

See, Imperial has it all over metric.... which doesn't even have a proper measurement for a cricket pitch.

22 Yards = 1 Chain... the length of a cricket pitch... and thus, Imperial is the winner by a country Mile.

Base 10 or base 12. Last time I looked we only have ten fingers...not twelve. IMO metric is just easier to use. Try using a ruler to measure a 32nd of an inch or a 64th or a 128th......

128th of an inch is about 1/5th of a millimeter....either way you're screwed if you use a ruler.

I still have a foot in both camps.... (or is that a centimeter in both camps...  )..... I measure furniture and things in feet and inches... otherwise I would have no idea of what size they were... unless I want to order something like a glass sheet, then I'll metric...

and if news shows don't give both on the height of the assailant...  well, I wouldn't know if they were giants or midgets...

I still weigh myself in stones and pounds.... I don't relate to a person's weight in kilos at all...

Most of my cooking books are very old..grandma's era...so I still measure mostly in pounds and ounces and pints with my old measuring jugs....

I'm well entrenched in Celsius...but still relate to Fahrenheit too...

Decimal currency sure made maths class easier than the pounds shillings and pence so I converted there easily...tho threepence sounds soooo much better than 2 cents...

I suppose it's just a matter of what you're bought up with... and how much you use something as to how thoroughly you change over to it...

giving a kid a centimeter and they'll take a kilometer... really doesn't cut it...

I like the fact we still have those old sayings and hope they'll survive the new generations and still be passed down....

I remember when my son was about 9 years old... I'd been on a diet...and pleased with my weight loss... I proudly announced to my son when he got home from school that I'd taken off a stone.... He said that's great Mum.. let me know when you've taken off a boulder....  !!    no kidding... that's when the big difference hit me... he had no idea what a Stone in weight was.... of course... and my initial reaction was he was stirring me... but no, that was just the way he saw it from my terminology...

still chuckle at that one... kids say the darnedest things...
