well the best of all worlds is if you have ODN and access to all the programs toon uses otherwise I believe it installs shareware versions needed to get it to work. So I guess 1st off what apps do you have and what versions.

Don't think you probs are because of needing WB4. Sidebar not showing sounds like Desktop x not running or loading it, you dont mention does the top bar show? If it does but side bar doesnt dx is running so you might try going to desktopx and select load and browse and reapply the cartoonbars.

Anyway make sure DesktopX is running then the side bar may appear and to change color make sure under Display -> Appearance that you Select "Cartoon Short color custom" and then click on the color box and make sure that enable coloring is checked. If its set to toon short then even if you check enable coloring and select one it wont apply. (If this is something your only able to do with WB4 I didnt realize and appologize)

If already done all this sorry, just trying to help

Jess has the right answer... I will have to assume that you do not have a stand alone version of desktopx... it will not load on startup so you can start it manually from the start menu. also make sure you are using a good screen resolution... I would say atleast 1024 X 768

if you don't have WB4 that won't show up. When WB3 was made they didn't have the code for that. WB4 adds those features to it. As for the custom color Jess has it right.

This theme was released b4 WB4 however they did indeed keep WB4 in mind when they designed it. So that WB4 users would be able to take advantage of the cool new features with this theme as well. I recall the Toon XP web page did indeed mention the WB4 features.

Yes, the "side bar" that you are referring to is called a "shell style". It is skinned in WB4.

well kind of hope they address some of the minor but annoying things in toon soon. Between things in WB4 betas and stuff if you use skinstudio to analize the theme it lists something like 47 issues of diffrent types plus things like the log off missing custom color taskpanel (defaults to reg taskpanel of red n gold IF you rename the backup shutdown to xplogoff_bg.bmp other wise it shows as Grey with colored buttons)non trans backgrounds on some of the dropdown arrows so instead of a round button sitting on my taskbar I have a yellow button sitting on a grey rectangle on my Blue bar hehe. Lot of minor junk but stuff thats still hard for me to fix as I don't understand the entire skin makeing process myself.

Sorry phone rang and brain passed fingers by with three thoughts at once hehe.

like the log off missing regular or custom colors, displays as grey fixable IF you rename the backup shutdown to xplogoff_bg.bmp other wise it shows as Grey with colored buttons. Even then its missing cutom color version.

task sidepanel defaults to reg panel of red n gold" even when using toon short custom color option. if you examine the skin in studio you will see unkie other parts of theme variation it uses the origonal red instead of black like the rest.

Don't get me wrong I love the skin and still don't begrudge the money for it but little things can get to ya once in a while. I understand they have other things cooking and takes time to do fixes but some of this has been mentioned since it came out so not unreasonable to hope.

you have to have windowblinds, and desktop x, but it will work with the shareware versions of either.. so what do you mean have to buy other programs???

You don't have to buy anything. The theme will run fine with the s/w versions of the apps Toon-XP takes advantage of which is what they advertised. No need to be mad because of limitations on autostarting the s/w apps (if the s/w worked exactly like the registered version why would anyone register?)

I don't know but can DesktopX s/w version be started by a shortcut in start up or is that a no go?
