I have nothing against you paxx you live in Canada. I suppose our differnences are a reflection of the types of governments we have.
I noticed that your military is in shambles and that the US is aiding your country with the necessary security in our hemisphere of the world. I heard your military might is smaller then that of the New York police force. That's a shame. A Canadian unit would always rotate in and out of the middle east and be co-located with military forces defending the southern no-fly zones, until one day when they packed up and went home. Why? Because they couldn't fully man their area of respnosiblity....that is such a disgrace.

Our military is indeed very small and is almost all located in other countries in UN missions.
Who would want to attack Canada anyway? Would you fight for a bunch of ice and snow?

I've been to Canada, BC I think when I was little and it was nice but you have to remember that evil doesn't care who you are.......I don't mind picking up your countries slack though.....someones gotta do it

In case you belive in God:
God bless America-> Yeah!, God bless Cuba, Argentina, Chile, Canada ...
Sleep well my American friends because noone is going to send you missiles nowdays, maybe planes but not missiles, and if someone send you terrorist planes how can you ever know???.
But if you bomb Irak sleep thinking in all those childs and women and elders who will die, your country will be responsible of them. The have done nothing to deserve that. Does Saddam send you missiles or anything?, and don't get confused, I'm not defending Saddam I think the world will live better without him (but also without war) but there are no commendable reasons to start a war.
And no one has asked US to be the police of the world.
Respect "American way of life" I have lived in Spain, France, Ireland, England and US, and belive me, you have nothing different than this other countries. So don't think you are the best and your contry is the most whatever while you havent lived in other countries. Try first and then speak whatever you want.

Any civilian casualties will be caused by the stupidity and arrogance of Saddam Hussein in his refusal to be a decent human being instead of the psychotic monster that he is... Anyone who dies in this war is his fault alone.

I've liven in Pakistan, Japan, Korea, Thailand, Brussels, France and England. There goes your first theory out the window.
We're not in this just to protect ourselves. Who was there to protect the Kurds when Saddam used mustard gas on them? We are doing this to protect innocent people from the drastic outlashings of an insane tyrant. A person who is known to have a desire to kill many amounts of people and who has done so in the past. It does not matter if they are American, or British, or Kurdish. They are living beings who's given rights to life are being threatened by a ruthless dictator. It's unfortunate that some innocent people may fall casualty, it would be even more unfortunate if nothing was done and Saddam killed even more innocent people.
How about the 60,000 children that starve to death each year because Saddam is taking the money that is supposed to buy them food and spending it on weapons? That's right, the money that is supposed to feed the children of Iraq is being given to France and Germany for military weapons.
But hey, it's your right to be ignorant if you want to.
Isn't life grand with these rose colored glasses?

alo_cmi, I gather from your statement above, your saying that if you haven't lived in more than one country one shouldn't speak? I think you would be suprised that the majority of the people who have commented on this thread have lived in more than 1 country. I myself have lived at least a year in 3 other countrys other than my home country (USA). So I guess I can comment?

alo_cmr: you're right in theory about the name of the United States of America, but it really doesn't matter. It's just semantics. Even saying "United States" is no more correct than saying "America". But it's just a lot shorter.
As for the name of its people, "United Statiens" just doesn't sound right.

I think a more accurate way of looking at it is that there are 50 States (countries) unified under a central entity (America)...
It's the premise of what they are working off of in the development of the EU..
And can it be done, yes, it sure can... You don't see people from Texas wanting to start a war with people in Arizona...

Anyway, I'm not the one who says that my country is the best, but all (or nearly all) of you do!.
I wouldn't live in a country where you must pay if you want a decent education, where you have to pay to have the right to be in hospital, where the police is very violent.... and that claims to be the freedom country
