We're getting hit hard here in NE Tennessee. Not as much snow as the northeast, but we're not used to this kind of stuff, so less prepared. So far, 9 inches here. Lots of ice as well.

I'm here in Gloucester County NJ. About 18 inches on the ground. After snow blowing I went out to the store (and giving me a reason to play with my 4x4) the side roads are still covered but the main roads are clear. I feel sorry for the people that live by the shore but you have to expect flooding when you live 100 yards from the Atlantic ocean.

Jaroepz and Al Monty. Both you people are fairly close to me especially Al. I'm in Bellmawr N. J. Yea lots of snow.

I saw ice flows in the flood waters. Holy shit! Still about ten hours to go yet.

South Allentown just reported 31 inches of snow on the ground. Here in West Chester maybe 26 or a little more. Unofficially this storm is in the top ten, maybe top five when all is said and done.

Been there, done that in the mid 80's in Northern Maine. Had a little over 18 feet of snow that winter total. Had 4 feet of snow overnight on one occasion. Stay safe everybody!

They even made a T-Shirt in the area when spring came that read "I survived 228 inches of snow." 

Yup, it's all 'global warming's fault.... all that freezing snow and ice.

Mind you, there'd be a whole shipload more if it weren't for global warming.... up to 20+ feet, even.  

Nah, truth is the we Aussies borrowed some of your warmth so we can enjoy the beach and Summer even more.  Thing is, you won't be getting all of it back.  Sorry, but Aussies seriously hate Winter..

Seriously, guys and gals, I recall my days of being snowed in when I lived in England, and it's no fun, two storey houses with snow drifts to the upstairs window sills, so to all those affected by all this ice and snow, please be safe and rug up.   Bugger snowballs and building snowmen, stay indoors unless it's absolutely essential to go outside.

Q:  What's the difference between snowmen and snowwomen?

I live in NW Indiana. When the lake effect is blasting we get a good amount of snow. Been 20+ inches a number of times since I moved here in 2006. Sometimes it gets below zero after those storms. Don't have a flood problem. The point is I know what it's like.

As I said to my wife the problems on the east coast are that there are over 70 million people and the flooding. Where I live our town has about 35,000 people and we are used to big snows. Yeah if you count all of Chicagoland it's in the millions, maybe 10 million. Thing is though the lake effect can be funny. We've had 20 inches of snow and I get on route 30 and travel for 10 minute going west and there they might have an inch or 2.

I didn't stay up for the finale but South Allentown topped out at 32 inches. When I lived in NY there was the blizzard of '96. Five feet if snow overnight. I had to clear enough space just to open my door. Then make a tunnel out to the street. And if that wasn't enough, in 2006 we had back to back blizzards. First one on a Saturday and the second on a Tuesday. Interesting that they all came ten years apart 1996...2006 and 2016.

I haven't seen snow falling in 46 years, but it's an awesome sight I'll never forget.  While it can be a beautiful sight, it can also be quite devastating.  A blizzard is no fun to be out in... nor is a sleet storm, with freezing rain near cutting you in half.   My father and I were caught out in a blizzard on our way home from work once.  We had hoped we'd get home before it hit, but the wind speed picked up and changed direction, causing the blizzard to hit sooner and harder than anyone expected.  Luckily, dad found a high wall to shelter behind and we sat it out in the car for a couple of hours.... eventually being able to drive our little Austin A30 home without being blown off the road.

I saw plenty of snow on the ground when I visited New Zealand in 1991, but none actually falling.  However, I did see snow falling in Stanthorpe back in the early 80's, but it didn't settle, melting away before it could blanket the ground.

well i had only some few 4 centimeters (less than 2 inch)  of snow in germany/saarland for less than a week. Thats a litlle bit fewer than normal.

Here in Sydney, it's been hot and humid...more humid than I can remember since I was a kid....downright tropical.... another thunderstorm brewing as I type... really unpleasant... don't mind heat as long as it's low humidity... but this humidity is a killer... it's like being in Cairns FNQ lately...

Humidity, well that's the fault of those mongrels in Canberra.... all the hot moist air being exuded every time they bump their gums in the parliament.

So how does that affect Sydney and other parts of Oz?   Well they have electoral offices in their home towns/states.

There is, however, one exception I can think of.... Avanda Manstones.
