Suitemate Rant
Tuesday, March 11, 2003 by Elfkura | Discussion: WinCustomize Talk
Anyways, I was really hard to get along with, thinking it was my way or the highway. Well, I've learned to relent a bit and respect others for their privacy and life space. I don't listen to music much, and I usually enjoy the peace and quiet to think and do my homework, but one of my suitemates enjoys cranking up the music. It's really loud, and I have trouble hearing my own music through my own headphones in my room (an attempt to drown out her music). It is too loud, this music thing of hers, especially at like 10 in the morning.
I would like to be able to wake up peacefully one morning and have a good morning without having to listen to music I don't like very much. I really don't like rap, and I wish she would keep her music to the moderate level. My other suitemate, one I talk and are friends with, can't stand her either, and she lives with the person.
Then there's the bathroom lock out. My suitemates and I share a bathroom and there are locks on both sides of the doors on both doors. Whenever she goes to the bathroom, she'll always forget to unlock my side of the door. This is a frequent thing, and I've called the Residential Assistants too many times to open my bathroom door. I don't want to get my friend on the other side fined for this, but what else can I do about her irresponsible behavior?
I don't know, I'm just tired of putting up with a lot of things she does... whether it's the loud music, locking me out of the bathroom just cause she forgets to unlock the door after she leaves, or not answering the door when I knock... it's all really annoying.
She might be on drugs, according to my other suitemate (no proof), and I have made the advice to go talk to the people in the AC office, my roommate, my suitemate, and I... all three of us... tell them of our concerns and let them deal with it.
I'm really tired of all this... I want peace and quiet just enough so that I can do my homework. She doesn't have to keep the music off, she just needs to keep it down to a moderate level. When people living in the entire hallway can hear her music, it is too loud... I don't think I'm being unfair.
Just a rant I felt that I had to get out of me or I'll explode.

doubt she is on drugs she prob just likes to "feel" her tunes instead of "listen" to them.
not much you can do until she gets her pad on the moon ppl around her will have a difficult time standing her! hehe!
just see if you can get her away from you or tell her to put on the head set but that don't always work either cuz sound still seems to leak out of mine and irritate ppl around me which is why they said please go ahead and work at home and leave us alone over here (but then my poor neighbors) evil hehe
sometimes there just is not enough space for ppl nothing much you can do but try to see if they can move her or you maybe? Goodluck Elf

But like I said, after last friday's fight, I don't think it's possible to talk anymore. I've already filed a complaint at the AC office concerning her behavior, but now the question rest at the time they will get to it.

The thing is, Doreen. She is welcome to keep her music to her room, and since we have wooden doors between us, I'll still be able to hear. I just can't stand not being able to hear myself when I read to myself or write.

if she's aggressive or something don't mess w/ her you don't need that headache go talk to someone in charge and fix the prob so you don't have to be putting up w/ that and can get "your" things done (the longer you put it off it's not good I guess)

Looks like she's gotten evicted by the AC office, so all in all, a handy week's worth of work. I'm glad things will start to quiet down from now on

@ Elfkura. i started at the U of H in '67 in an apartment with 3 "good friends". Lasted two weeks, wound up living in a place by myself. Some things never change!
