F1... Anyone?
Wednesday, March 5, 2003 by @shu | Discussion: WinCustomize Talk
Its that time of the year again, when the fastest cars in the world put on a show. Grease spilling, gas guzzling, rubber burning lean, mean machines with mean drivers competing for the most coveted title in auto racing...
A bit too much? I don't think so.
Though most of the spectators were put off by the no show last time, (the scarlets demolished and dismembered the rest, the also-rans) its time for the ardent fan do don his fav team's colours and cheer for it for the races. All I can say... If u see a flash of colour whizzing past you on the road, be sure its a F1 fan emulating his/her hero.
Feel free to add comments and links to F1 related stuff.

Can't wait for the new season, although I think a lot of the new rules introduced are quite simply futile crap.
The teams wanted rules that cut costs, so why didn't the FIA simply limit to teams to a set budget for the season?
Or an alternative would be to take a similar approach to F3/F3000 and have an outside comapny contracted to build the body and chassis, and the teams then buy from them.
One team I'm anxious to see this year is Sauber. Essentially they are blue Ferrari's.
They're running the '02-spec engine that was in the Ferrari's last year, so assuming they have a half-decent aerodynamic setup, they could very well be grabbing a top 5 place every race.

I also remember how Ferrari couldn't BUY a win, for years & years. I started out my Formula 1 addiction being an Alesi fan, when he was teamed with Gerhard Berger at Ferrari, they had the largest budget in F1 but still they could not even get a sniff of any World Championship points for well over a decade, they were the losing-est team in F1 at that time. Did anybody feel the need to re-invent the series back then? Hell no!
Oh well... this season should be one helluva year, I'm really looking forward to it. I'm in a small F1 Pool, have won the "Championship" two years in a row, I'm going for #3 this year. Wish me luck! So, who (if anyone?) can de-throne Michael this time around? That's right, nobody! I would have to put my money on Ralfie in the Williams to be the next quickest after brother Mikey. Or perhaps his team-mate Juan-Pablo Montoya? (IF he can settle down & not always "choke" when he's getting near). Also, I was expecting HUGE things from team Renault last year that never happened, Honda too. They both really let me down bigtime. I'm hoping for better results from both of those engines this year.
Who's your #1 team/driver? My Canajun blood forces me to root for JV in the BAR, but at heart I'm still (& probably always will be) a Ferrari fan.

Scarlet Rulez!!! I've loved Ferarri even when they weren't winning, you know the time when Mika won twice in a row, Schumi crashed... (It seems centuries ago...)

But I beg to differ on the guy on the second spot. I don't think Ralfie has the hunger to haunt Michael. I think its gonna be the Columbian who is gonna be baying for the elder Schumacher's blood. But that brat's gotta understand that Schumi is unbeatable, He is God at the moment.

I also think that the new Finn on the block, Raikonnen, will put up a good show, i.e. if the Merc holds up...
The rest, well they are just there to fill up the places.

Failing that I'd probably pick Barichello, although I think we'll still see Micheal take the championship again.

Technically, I think, that the teams wait till the end of the first half of the season to decide their No. 1 driver, but Michael is already nominated for the top dog position in the Scarlets. I think, that, more than anything else, hampers Rueben's chances in the championship...

The Honda's were quite impressive, although I was so hoping for Villeneuve to pick up a crap lap time, thus humbling him and his big-ass ego, and maybe soften his crappy attitude toward Jenson Button.
Looking VERY forward to the race.
