Sneaky SOB's
If I could I'd so hurt them.....

So I'm perusing my updates and I noticed an additional optional update bring the total to 10. I checked out five of them and they were pretty lame, harmless. Then I decided to view my hidden updates. Guess what found. They went from optional to recommended. MS wasn't supposed to do this till next year. They lied!

Not seeing any of that stuff here. Maybe I'm not looking hard enough or I need to calibrate my 'I give a shit' meter.
(The above was meant as a joke, no offense intended)

Jafo and I are not getting any of that. Just sayin.

As long as they stay hidden there'll be no problem. Right now they are.

I have a total of 6 computers [not counting the 2c bookend].
One hasn't been 'on' for several months...it's a P4.
Four are running 10 now - mostly without issue [all using Start 10].
Only one is left on 7 [and still active] and that's my prime machine [the beast]... and that's the one that isn't wanting to - trying to move on to 10.
Of the 4 on 10 three were 'normal' updates and one was updated from the 10 preview - which was originally clean.
10 isn't evil, but much of its opposition is. It won't really eat your babies...

Thing is, Ross, MS has been doing this to some users in trying to sneak the 10 upgrade through on non-10 machines. I was one of them until I installed GWX Panel, which ended the debacle and ensures update/upgrade settings remain as I set them

Neither am I.... now, but not everyone is that lucky. I keep reading/hearing about people being bombarded constantly with updates to initiate the 10 upgrade, even after they set those updates ti 'hide' and update installs to manual, and I have to wonder if that's because it was done natively within the Windows environment, and that using a 3rd-party app is the answer to getting 'un-nagged'
As for my 'give a shit meter', I did calibrate it last night but I still don't... give a shit, that is. Perhaps it [the meter] needs a laxative.

Wot, you sayin' I'm evil?
I don't have any babies - unless somebody harvested some of my 'swimmers' while I was asleep [and missed the enjoyment] - so that's not my worry. Simply put, I don't like Win 10 in its current form, and after 10 -12 years of giving Windows a go [except for ME], I'm entitled to hate its guts if I like.

I have 3 that are dual booted, 8.1 and 10. I have one triple booted, adding 7. I have 2 with only 10, and two with only 7.
All is well, and has been for a while. No nags, no sneaky updates, etc. Too bad not everyone is so lucky.

If they remain hidden what are the chances of them being 'installed' without my knowing it. I think it unlikely but still...

My "upgrade" from 8.1 to 10 was flawless and painless. Miss my windowblinds, though............. [e digicons]:')[/e]

That's the thing, see, MS will make the Win 10 upgrade an 'Important' update, and if your updates are switched back to auto-installs, as mine were, you'd end up with a POS OS you don't want.... and rolling back to the previous OS, I think will become a thing of the past. Yup, one has to be vigilant so as not to have 10 forced down one's throat.

I certainly hope so! When MS starts literally twisting arms, well that's when I call out the heavies... a couple of rottweilers named Bite and Chew to stand guard at the door.

Ha! My laptop is anything but unattended. I check every day to make sure they stay hidden. Plus I have my backups, a full system image, all files and folders and drives and partitions which include the recovery partitions. Then there are the restore points, four and one is the full system image from 10-6-2015, soon to be upgraded.

Yep, I saw that the other day here too, so I just hid them too.
