Wallpapers and Bryce

Friday, February 28, 2003 by vizo | Discussion: WinCustomize Talk

ok I am wondering. It seems like a short time ago I saw a thread where someone was talking about wallpapers and submissions and how everything seemed to be Bryce so was mostly rejected. But browsing wallpapers it seems like it is mostly Bryce. What gives?

I mean Bryce is ok and all but jeez louise, after browsing through about a dozen or so of those things it's like floating metal/water/whatever thinging me to boredom.

I don't know maybe I've been spoiled by my art appreciation class or something (even though that was many years ago )

what do you think?

From what I've seen, if your good with it, some really fantastic things can come from it. Also it is a very good tool I would think when used with multiple programs for a final product...

If you didn't know Bryce is extremly well liked by many artists for it's ability to create impressive worlds and not to mention it's ability to import objects from other 3D programs. I don't know of an easier program to use to create the above stated realities. Besides it's inexpensive and just check out the abundance of sites which have galleries for Bryce.....like renderosity.com

**Sorry......that struck a nerve with Green_Armani**

no doubt, some of it is fantastic. It just reminds me of some artists that keep using the same style over and over and you just wish they would try a different style or media. For instance, are you familiar with Erte? Great work but he just kept doing the tall, thin stylistic women again and again.

To each his own, I guess

nerve striking not intended
I've used Bryce and it is faily easy to use and produces very realistic works (in the right hands of course)
I guess I just like more variety

What we allow in is only the tip of the iceberg...which, I might add still reeks of repetitive dog nuts and ovate spheroids et al....but fortunately, thanks to moderation, Wincustomize.com is not literally swamped under the dross that otherwise would be the case.

Now, it is also important to note that although a wall here may possess artistic merit, this is not an art gallery, but a wallpaper gallery...an adjunct to the skins also provided.

If you want TRUE art 'variety'...50 ways to love your lever...then Devart caters for that.
If you want 'chick-walls' just do a Google for Britney.

Generally, apart from the odd dozen or so, the walls here are quite well executed....many exuding more intelligence than some of the downloaders...I still muse over the thought that 1300+ twits now have 'Still trapped in Bryceworld' on their harddrives...

I use Bryce for alot of my projects. But I also use a bunch of other progs in the process. You can't do everything in Bryce. At least I don't think you can.

Jafo - Your stuck on Britney and her boobs aren't you

That love your lever lost me though

Weaksid...the trick with Bryce is to pretend it is only ONE tool in the box and actually take out the other ones now and then.
A hammer is great for nails, but really crappy at cutting wood....so making furniture requires a saw as well....

Green_Armani, the Sherman pulled in the other day and is restocking and heading out in the morning, my son didn't say anything, other than Nimitz and group are pulling out also....

That made me stop a momment when speaking with him tonight on the phone after mentioning your being based there close by.

Whatever goes on, or not, be safe...

I take it the 'Sherman' is not a WW2 75mm US tank, but a boat of some sort....

I just got to spend the last 10 minutes or so talking with the police...

Some drunk came around the corner in a lowered Dodge Neon at around 45 - 50 mph after a evening or rain. A 90 degree corner I might add...

Now that was silly of him, anyway he drove off after slaming into my neibhours Dgode 4x4, fitting, maybe he was trying to mate them?, and drove off down the road. So the cop is asking me really stupid questions like what where you doing when it happened...

He finally left when he got a call explaing that this person had just started playing smash up durby in an Apartment Complex parking lot

Why do people think they are F1 materail when drunk is what gets me?

"Why do people think they are F1 materail when drunk is what gets me?"

Wow, IPlural - you couldn't have gotten that one more incorrect, if you ask me!

People tend not to think at /all/ when they're drunk, of course!

Bryce is a nice way to create abstract work, and its sooooo easy, thats why a lot of people use it, I am now switching to 3ds max, MEN thats hard!

There's nothing wrong with using programs like Bryce to create walls etc. It's the end result which counts. Like so many programs it's all too easy to get Bryce to produce something. What is difficult and takes a lot of skill, is getting results which don't look like Bryce has been used. There are a few artists out there with the skill to do this, and some fine looking walls. Sadly 99.99% look like the artist has set the thing running then disappeared to the pub for a few beers while Bryce does its stuff.

To add to Jafo's furniture analogy, those carpentry tools can be used by anyone to make an orange box - an inlayed Queen Anne dresser takes considerably more skill.

The big push is going to be between now and mid to late March. The majority of forces will need to make it into the Middle East by that time or else it will be to late in case Bush decides to show his hand before the hot summer months. What I just told you is classified so don't say nothing....................................................................just kidding

No really, a lot of movement going on but to what ends is uncertain until almost T-Minus zero. I can tell you this......no warning will be giving, no press conference will be held, no delegation will be sent.......that can of wup ass will be opended and all the contents will be spilt.

I've grown a liking to you all these last few days since I never used to surf the Message board until now so I will say it will be sad to go if my unit gets called up but I do have a digital camera so I'll make sure I take some awesome pics and show them when I get back.

The thing with Bryce to me is that it's almost like the loading program in the Matrix. You know that place in between reality and the Matrix. You can be outfitted with anything and everything.....basically your imagination is the limit and combined with other programs it can do anything. I got a Bryce mag that's like a year old and it's got images that I would've never imagined being made in Bryce but they were. Anyway....Green_Armani goes to eat a bowl of cereal
