Using Konfabulator

I recently been playing around with Konfabulator on my Mac. If anyone's interested, it's a lot like DesktopX but for MacOS X.

Are you thinking of Hoverweather? It looks very similar, but for PC's. They're having problems with Yahoo (they use Yahoo as a weather source) and have stopped distributing it. Too bad.

Nope. I'm speaking of a Mac OSX widget, which I'm not guessing is a konfabulator thingy from Frogboy's screenshot.

you know I am glad you reminded me of that, I have the latest version right before it being pulled. I need to ask DangeRuss if I should not run it in case they get wiggy, do not want to cause any issue even if out fringe stuff...
Yahoo is just upset Hoverweather blows theirs to hell in a hand basket

Its great to have this for MacOS X users...I find it hard to believe it will ever compare with the FABULOUS Dx themes that are available for PC users here....look at Innovation XP 4.0, Innerspace, GridScape Dx by Boxxi - these types will never be surpassed!!!

I've got a major case of I wants, wife has to keep me in check or, I'll have and she'll die when the Visa, Master and Discovery hit the mail box
done it more than once, so she has learned to keep a tight noose handy to my neck and fingers
though I am starting to think that maybe keeping my eyes open in the paper for a g4 powermac at 8 and a little below would work fine for a starting point, if and when I get one, I'm going to have to pick your mind and watch your site for updates on the tweaks and apps Frogboy

soooooo... does MAC have something like WindowBlinds to change the look of the computer frames? It would be nice to skin stuff. I know MAC can change icons but that is all I know.

Sure do. They have Kaleidoscope. It was my first venture into customization back in about 94. I had a Performa 410 that I started learning about customization on. You can see some screenshots here. http://www.kaleidoscope.net/What_is_Kaleidoscope.html

Anyway, why does the name of that app (Konfabulator) sound like it's a KDE program? For a second, I had to look up "Konfabulator" to see if it was a Linix program first. But no, only OSX. Weird.
(For those who don't know, a lot of KDE - a Linux environment - applications start with K: Konquerer, Kmail, KOffice, Konversation, ...)

I'm not sure if Kaleidoscope works with OSX or not, Paxx. I still have a Mac (albeit 2,000 miles away in storage), but it is still running OS 7.5, I believe. It was a really nice app though. I can't believe that I have been into customization for nearly ten years now. That could almost make me feel a little old.

of course OS X can be skinned. Kaleidoscope does no longer work, but there are Duality and ThemeChanger.

maybe it's time stardock gave them some competition... Object desktop Mac OS x edition maybe... he he he I would then buy a mac... just for that...

would it be hard to code windowblinds to work on a MAC? I still havn't found a decent windows gui program for a MAC that works on all windows. Not even a icon packager... I would have to install all those icons myself?

that's what Im saying... stardock could make massive profits on a mac version of object desktop... plus opens the way for when Micro$oft takes a fall... and they will... I can assure it... most likely im not buying Longhorn... I'm drawing the line here with XP... my next computer will either have Linux, or it will be a mac... so we already have one customer for OD.net OS X edition.. that's me

I don't think there is much money to make there. Mac just isn't an important enough market. Sorry to Mac fans, but it's sadly true.

Hmm, seeing OSX runs on *BSD, isn't it then theoretically possible to switch the windowmanager to one of the *nix windowmanagers?
