What would you do?

I know the title is a little off. But here it is. What would you do if you can't get something to do what you want it to in a program? I would like to do lighting bolts in Bryce. I found one thing to do it, but it seems like the program that does it, the link didn't work for. Now I'm getting frustrated since I'm stuck on my project. And I need this somehow done. The reason I want to do it in Bryce is for the light effect and 3D look. Grrrrr. And it's almost done 
Any Suggestions?
I've been all over Google, front and back. I think I even tried every link I could find on those link pages and they all point to the same freakin page.

Yea, I was thinking about doing it in Photoshop since I had that, but the reflecting light from the bolts is the problem. Umm, I guess if anything.. Do a 2D lighting bolt in photoshop, import it into Bryce, then add light effects from the light area..

I was gonna say that... or draw up a lighing strike in Bryce and put the effects you want on it.
Or use 3D studio and put a bunch of triangles together.
Actually you could do that in Bryce I think... a bunch of triangles; different shapes and angles to each other should do the trick.

Interesting.. Never thought about Triangles 
But I think I got lparser program to work.. It's a interesting program I got to say for being free. Programming envolved but heck, I'll learn quick. I took C++ before

you could also load up an acutal night time picture of a lightening strike into Photoshop, mask it rasterize it, copy the layer and create a new image and past
the layer into it as an transpar and then save it in a format Bryce will deal with.
Load it up do a save as so the origional layer trans is safe, and work from that angle and still have the layer if you need to start it again...

I think I decided to do it by hand in photoshop I found several ways to do it, other then the way I orginally wanted to. But o'well. If I can get it to come out really good, I'll still be happy.

I don’t have Bryce, but I could make a tutorial for an electrical arc for 3DS Max and you could see how I do it and use the same technique. I’ll need a few days to put it together and upload it to my site. I have been trying to make up a few and add them for later but if you want I can get this one done sooner, Let me know.

Yea, I would like to know how if you could. No rush though. Take your time and make sure you cover everything. Usually if you rush, you miss a detail or two

That's cool.. I think I got the lightning for at least the first make of the project. I'll be messing with stuff with it later on as I learn new techniques. There is actually a meaning behind what I'm creating. I'll try to explain some in my description if it makes it on here. If it doesn't. I'll at least post it over at DA so my friends can keep up with what I've been doing.
