WOM, seeing journeyman next to your name prompted me to put this thread because I was under the impression a person had to be a skinner and yet I don't see any skins for you.
Where are your skins? I clicked on view authors skins and the page was blank, Were they lost?
After reading the page I see you don't have to be a skinner but just a contributor. Or should I say a favorite of the uppers.
Favoritism without significant reason is a bad plague at Wincustomize and IMO that shouldn't be. It is just too political.
Please don't get me started on rating skins
The rating system sucks badly and that is all I am going to say except I agree that only journeyman or higher should be able to rate a skin and only after installed and not by a screen-shot.Reply #8 Sunday, February 16, 2003 6:00 AM

I am a journeyman also and I still have no idea, who promoted me. So I didn't lick someones feet to get there. >
So You say someone that helps active in forums and newsgroups (which is another way of contributing) isn't the same stage as a skinner' ? Think about it...

Why?
Because it is too easy to come to the message board or skin and post whitewashed comments. Not saying anyone in particular does that but just an example.
My point is it is too POLITICAL and that is not right. Do you get the idea I hate politicians? Not only them but those that talk with a fork tounge. Honest straight forward comments are not always welcome but they accomplish more for a positive outcome than a polished untruth.

I see that you are a Master Apprentice. Congratulations.
Now, I, on the other hand, am just an Apprentice. And I think that I too have contributed as much as you have to this site, though all my uploads have been in the more competetive section of Wallpapers (the ones that are moderated the most, I think).
But I do not, in any way, accuse you of buttering the 'higher ups', because I deduce that you have been longer on this site and have since been a regular contributor. Your longer association with WC is one of the many reasons that you are on the verge of becoming a Journeyman (if I am correct about the hierarchy).

Have a nice day and smile a lot.
Remember, that it takes 42 (or is it 43?) muscles to frown, but only 17 to smile.

People are 'promoted' due to their 'positive' contribution[s] to this site and its 'community'....not due to toadying up to any one person or another.
If the sum of a person's involvement is antagonistic and/or disruptive then the chances are 'promotion' will be some-what downward.
FYI...the last person I altered the 'status' of was Fuzzy Logic.....due to his positive participation on this board in particular, and as a minor bit of 'cheer' for him with his current predicament.
That ain't 'political'....just a 'good thing'.
Politics is for politicians and arse[ass]holes....and yes, I know....the latter was redundant....

His journeyman status only pointed out to me that my understanding as to the status ranks was not correct. Making this thread is the best way for me to straighten this out.
I would like to point out one more time... A guided missile hits its mark not by positive input but by negative input. Without the negative input no positive change would be made or would take forever to reach.
In other terms, an alpha program would be the final release if there was no positive response from the negative input.

I didn't think I would have the time to finish it before I lost my connection to the web or my utilities. I did upload an unfinished version of it and have no idea if I will ever get to finish it since a new WB version I can use has not been released.
To make a long story short, I liked the skin and didn't want to loose it or not be able to share it and that is why I asked for help. (I still think it is a good skin even though it is rated low) I am upset that no one was available to help out. That and the pressure I experience with the real world has made me very defensive and tired of the bull I encounter every day and that I apologize for.

I understand your point of view too. But I think, that this thought shouldn't have been put in the harsh and accusatory words you used.
Anyways, best of luck for the future. I hope to see you make some Wallpapers (I am sorry, but I do not use WB or CursorXP and so do not go through the submissions of the same.) But I looked at your work. It is quite good, I liked the Aqua (blue) WB skin in particular. I would have rated it, but I understand your views on that matter. And I had nothing to compare it to.

And I think that you'll back me when I say that there should be more people like WOM, who comment on skins and provide words of valuable encouragement.
