I am having trouble getting Objectdock to run on startup 
tried the normal method but doesn't want to work! am i doing something wrong? inquiring minds want to know

thats what i've done... still not playing the game! will try it again but any other suggestions would be cool... under XP Pro if that helps.

If its in the right folder, it will work. If you are the only person who uses the computer, you can put it in this folder: C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\Startup

when you launch ObjectDock by clicking on it, does it work? If so I would have to wonder if others are also using the same computer. XP Pro can be setup to prevent you from runing files at startup intentionally. Do you have admin rights? Lots of Q's not too many answers yet.

yeah it works, i have set it up with what i want so there should be no problems and i have administrator privileges, i did have outlook opening on startup but now that doesn't work either... curiouser and curiouser

Well, didn't actually take long, but i managed it... wasn't working the traditional way but found this article that i followed:
Run at Startup Policy
To create or modify the list of programs that start automatically when you log on to your computer, follow these steps:
1. Click Start, and then click Run.
2. In the Open box, type mmc, and then click OK.
3. On the File menu, click Add/Remove Snap-in.
4. Click Add.
5. Under Available Stand-alone Snap-ins, click Group Policy, click Add, and then click Finish.
NOTE: If you do not want to edit the Local Computer policy, click Browse to locate the group policy object that you want. Supply your user name and password if prompted, and then click Finish when you return to the Select Group Policy Object dialog box.
6. Click Close, and then in the Add/Remove Snap-in dialog box, click OK.
7. In the left pane of the Group Policy snap-in, expand Local Computer Policy, expand Computer Configuration, and then expand Administrative Templates.
8. Expand the System object, click the Logon object, and then in the right-pane, double-click Run these programs at user logon.
9. Click Enabled, and then click Show.
10. Click Add, type the name of the executable program (.exe) file or document that you want, and then click OK. You must specify the path to the file unless it is located in the %Systemroot% folder.
11. Repeat step 10 to add additional items to the Items to run at logon list.
12. Click OK twice.
The items that you added to the Items to run at logon list start automatically the next time that you log on to Windows on your computer. A list of these items is located in the following registry key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\policies\Explorer\Run
Pretty cool really, a bit long winded but it does the job!

Would I be wrong in assuming that the startup folder in the start menu is still not working? would be a pain in the butt to have to add any new startup items into your registry like that every time.

yeah, that would be about right.... but i use VERY little on startup so i am not too concerned really
dunno why it's not working now, like i said it worked for Outlook before, Windows eh?

nah, this is a fresh install, done today! doesn't take long to corrupt a file in XP!

that is a bit odd... I can only find info on things becoming a messed up if you have done an upgrade... you might check one spot tho... msconfig.exe are the item in startup not represented with a check under the tab called oddly enough "startup" you might also take note of the path because you have now added these two items too the registry run key. (just so you don't confuse them you should see two instances of these progs)

i removed them from the startup group prior to that console work, i will have a look at some point to see what happens with something else.

ty, had it a while but only really just getting into it! work for an OEM but only ever really install specifics on it to make sure they work with our sytems... no tweaking at all
