How to change desktop Icons?

How do you change your desktop Icons to fit across the top of the screen like I see on all of these themes?

Right click your desktop, choose 'Arrange icons by', and untick 'Auto arrange'. Then you have to move your icons by dragging. You can also tick 'Align to grid' which keeps things neat and tidy.
