Simple question (but hard for me), How do I take a snapshot of my desktop?

While your desktop it up hit the print screen button and bring it up in a paint program and save it as a jpeg. You then can upload it to the site.

I use print screen and then "paste into new image" in Painter 6.1, save as jpeg... all done.

Print Screen doesn't work for me. I an running Win XP Home.

XP Home should work with print screen then paste to your fav. Paint prog... also "Alt+Prnt scrn" works but is supposed to only capture the active window. Try running a system file check if that don't work. run cmd "sfc /scannow" must have admin rights.

Yes - the print screen button works just fine in XP Home, actually. I use it all the time in conjunction with Photoshop. 
It's been a standard feature of explorer since.. 95 or 98?

The 'Print Screen' function does indeed work well with XP Home. I use it very frequently to take screen shots while playing Battlefield 1942. Just press the 'Print Screen' button, open MS Paint (unless you have a more advanced paint application), click on 'Edit' and then 'Paste'.

The self proclaimed King of Screenshots and Downloads is very pleased with this suggestions.
Futhermore, if you do not have a image program you can press print screen and then paste the image into Microsoft Word and save the Word Documant as a web page. Then extract the image from the web page you just saved from Word by clicking on the intenet file.
Once there just save the image from your browser as a jpeg.
Done.
