Shell Style Support?

What exactly does that mean when a windowblinds theme says "Shell Style Support" on it?

It's XP-specific and pertains to the skinning of the information area on the left side of explorer windows.

and the background images, which for whatever reason don't work on mine, even when Windowblinds is disabled > but it's ok...
