Skinning the Command Prompt

Thursday, January 30, 2003 by 2stepdmb | Discussion: WinCustomize Talk

Does anyone know if there is a program that can skin the command prompt or change the background of it? Sort of like how on Linux using KDE you can have the background of the shell terminal be transluncent and be able to see your wallpaper on the prompt. Thanks!

if you have XP, an ODNT subscription, and the latest alpha of WB3.90a, you can skin the command prompt. I doubt you can get translucent backgrounds though. (have no idea)

I use 'console' - and there's also 'eConsole' - I do believe.

Sorry - I don't have a URL handy - the one I had seems to be dead. :/ I think I first saw reference to it on Virtualplastic.org

Yep. The alpha of WB4 will indeed skin the command prompt. Now if we could get it transparent, it would be complete.

2stepdmb, you can find eConsole here - http://www.informatik.uni-frankfurt.de/~corion/econsole/

I believe it will do what you are after.

Thanks to all of you for the replies. I'll go check out Console and eConsole.
