Monday, January 27, 2003 by Urban1 | Discussion: WinCustomize Talk

I got very angry and upset when i today saw at an site that toon-xp has been leaked for free on the net. This is so amazing fun suite, i can't understand why they do not pay the small amount of money it cost >

no problem in the least...

that kind of thing actually pisses me off to no end.

I've worked to many different jobs and been bent over the table on pay to not
understand what it is to provide a service or product and have some d*ckhead(s)

I've been watching Usenet...it's not there yet, but the new Windowblinds just got posted the other day with a crack. That could explain the influx of whining newbies who can't download three trillion terabytes of skins for free.

This really ticks me off. I spent the money on this suite because it is worth it and now some free-loaders are going to get it for free. > It looks like this could be tracked down though. Didn't we each get separate registration numbers for this suite. It looks like that could be cross referenced and the guilty culprit found. I certainly hope so!

I’m going to try and avoid hitting any nerves, but how many of you who feel this is wrong or voiced concern use File Swapping and grab yourself some free mp3's or movies?

That strikes my nerves just as much as the toon-xp leak at times, not the stealing, just the two fascism (not that I’m accusing anyone of it, merely posing the question). While I have no sympathy for the recording industry they’ve may have abused the system and undertaken questionable tactics, it is however just as illegal and just as wrong. I only bring this up because of word of several senators pushing for more enforcement of a 1990's law under Clinton, which makes it a felony http://zdnet.com.com/2100-1107-982171.html

There’s no line in the sand, it's all the same thing. People are being ripped off. In this case, its Stardock and the artists who created the skin, in the case of the mp3 swapping it’s the music industry, and the artists (once again). Maybe they deserve it, but it’s not for any of us to decide. It's not harmless when everyone does it.

Btw, I’m not judging anyone, just tossing out my two cents on a very related problem.

ugh, shouldve copied that into word to preview. So theres no confusion

should read:
...While I have no sympathy for the recording industry, they may have abused the system...

...Maybe they [music industry] deserve it, but it’s not for any of us to decide. It's not harmless when everyone does it.

No...it's all the same....stealing is stealing, irrespective of who or what is the victim.
'File sharing' is such a cute phrase for what predominantly is copyright abuse and theft.

When it's your own property being 'taken' or 'borrowed' or 'shared', it tends to put things into a clear and correct perspective...

Weird - I feel no guilt over using a copied Office XP or hundreds of mp3's. I did, however, feel awful when I used warezed Object Desktop for a week. Even though I had purchased WindowBlinds, I felt like I was taking my "Friends" stuff through Brad's "House". (I plunked down $34.95 the other day to clean my soul) I think the difference is the proverbial concept of "The're big enough it won't hurt 'em" (Microsoft- Music groups & Co.'s) Vs. MY FRIENDS STUFF.

I deleted almost two pages before clicking submit

NO

I'd break my sons or daughters butt if any of them ever stole anything how could I hold myself anyless responsible for mine, own actions?

And it has nothing to do with religion with me, I m not religious, it has to do with what is right and what is wrong. If I can not feel I have done or am doing right then I damn well know it is wrong.

Same same...

Just to post this. Remember alot of this is how people look at the world and life. Each person is to their own opinions about everything. There is always two sides to everything. If you think diffrent, then you've been sheltered for way too long.

Even in the beginning there had to be light and darkness.

Old Crabs old cat is always saying - "Whats yours is whats mine". Darn cats have an especially hard time with moral imperatives. Old saying "morals of a cat".
