Anti-troll 101

Dear members:
These are not cyber-war tactics (
)…these are just common sense/courtesy/decency type tactics that if properly deployed could do this forum a world of good:
When a troll starts a thread:
IGNORE IT. Don’t respond…it just PERPETUATES the thread no matter how good your intentions because you bring the ‘troll’ thread back up where it certainly doesn’t belong.
REPORT it: Rather than responding you can right click on the ‘mother thread’ link and save the link and forward it to an Administrator whom can remove the link if it’s repugnant or rude etc.
REMEMBER: A troll wants attention…ignore him…and he leaves…keep giving him a trail of crumbs and he’ll follow.

I also think that for some of these folks, it's a power thing. They can come in here, leave a post like "All this is garbage" and just sit back and watch the carnage. The manipulate us, this gives them power. This also takes power from us. sigh... I don't even know what I'm talking about, but it sounded so good in my head.

lben, are you over at DA? I've read alot of poems over there. I just got to say is there are alot of people that are alone too long
Nothing wrong with it, but I even know it starts effecting the mind. They are called dark poems usually. I might get cocky and post some of my old ones. If I can find them.

a Zen technique from my surfer days: if someone offends you, just mentally visualize them "takin' gas" on a 30 foot wave at the Pipeline. It works surprisingly well.

I have an odd technique that has worked wonders for me...
First of all, if someone tries to hurt my feelings or ‘slam’ me I think loving thoughts towards them…I muster up as much love as I can send with my mind…because I know that deep inside…anyone that wants to be so hurtful to another is lost…and needs guidance… I’ve won over many enemies by befriending them…some of my best friends were at first my enemies. Go figure?
It’s not always easy to be positive…we are all human and we make mistakes and we miscalculate or misjudge people but we learn and if we humble ourselves we also know when to apologize and make things right.
Sure, that may sound like a ‘Pollyanna’ attitude but I’m not that type of bleeding heart…I have plenty of fire and fight in me.
