What format of Text Document do you use?

Ok, I'm working on several projects at this moment. But this is part of one of my smaller ones. I would like to know what text document format most people use.
Some of the Common that I can read off my mind.
.txt, .doc, .nfo, etc. There are alot more but can't think of them at the moment

For lists and casual writing, I use .txt (notepad), and for more formal stuff that people besides will have to look at, I use .doc (MS Word)

that really depends ... is it for multiple users to see on their own machines? If so then Html or Acrobat are universal 
if the ability for anyone to be able to see it does not matter then any others that have been mentioned will work good.

Well, the only different usually between say, a .txt, .me or a .nfo is the extension. 
I tend to just use a generic text format when I need something, extensions vary depending on my mood or what it's for - but I do most of my work in vim.

Text editor originally from the unix world. It's been around... forever.

.txt *is* the standard...everyone can read that filetype.

I'm not sure what you're asking. Are you talking about different text formats/contents (plain text, XML, RTF...) Or are you talking about a text editors?

.txt & .doc are the 2 commons ones I use the most. They cover just about everything I need for my everyday needs.
I might rarely use .rtf or .nfo files, but not too often.

I might use .txt and .doc.. Since I can add tables to .doc and all the info can still stay intact in .txt.
Most people should be able to read .txt.
The reason I ask is I'm adding something special to my next set of projects. (Evil grin)
I didn't know what formats Unix, Lunix, OSx, or any of them used other then Windows. I haven't messed with the mac version since High school when I repaired them. Even though there isn't really anything to repair, it's just replacing boards.

Old Crab - A more thoughtful way of communication and much nicer to receive, But I use a fountain pen. The text format is called running writing. Don't forget to put that one down Weaksid it's gotta be included.

I have been sending out resumes and the overwhelming demand is for plain text.
I have gotten replies from govt agencies saying they can't open a .doc or .pdf file.
Text files are the safest, I think
Word doc can have malicious macros which if your security is not set right can really mess up the PC. Virus software doesn't scan for macros and they can be as dangerous as a virus.
