im hoping to use it on my desktop, so that i can hide all my icons within hidden links in the picture
i'm new at actually changing any settings on my computer, or drawing anything worthwhile

How many threads do you need on links? One should be enough.

if you want to have pictures with links in them on your desktop you basically need to make a webpage put the html document and the pictures your using into the web folder under windows in explorer. and activate "active desktop" under winMe or earlier if your using XP chose customize desktop from the Display properties and chose new and browse to your web page.

You could do all this with DesktopX objects so you don't have to turn on active desktop.
