Can't remove Some Malware...
Friday, January 2, 2015 by kona0197 | Discussion: Personal Computing
So on the machine I use everyday I have an issue. I use Chrome. When in Chrome, I get constant redirects and popups.
I have tried the following with these results:
AVG full scan - clean
MSE full scan - clean
Malewarebytes - clean
Superantispyware - clean
Spybot - clean
ADWcleaner - clean
Hitman PRO - clean
The popups and browser hijacks have to be some sort of virus. But all of these say the machine is clean???

Now, what I'd suggest is to seriously look for another occupation other than ineffectually attempting to fix computers other than your own.
Like most things it's entirely 'fair game' to waste your life screwing up/with your own computer [I do it all the time] but it's a case of the blind leading the inept to take on something beyond your own capabilities....
Amen. Seriously....
Also kona if you are indeed 'repairing' someone else's system learning the system registry and how to effectively navigate/modify it would be invaluable. Many software related issues (ie. software not behaving as it should etc. etc.) can either be completely fixed by editing/adding/modifying/removing a registry entry or at least you'll be pointed in the right direction for a fix. Of course you should never go spelunking around in a system registry unless you know what you're doing and unless you are willing to accept responsibility for any/all potential results.

Why not I´ll ask?
As long as it is your own system and you made a backup it will be the way to learn it.

benmanns,
I'm sure you can appreciate that part of my post was a bit of a disclaimer and/or warning especially since it appears that the system in question (regarding kona's OP) is not actually 'his'.

OK guys I think I have it handled. Ran all of the programs you mentioned and I guess one of them did the trick. Everything is back to normal. It's my Sister's computer. I no longer have one of my own so I use hers. ![]()

What happened...I thought you still had the one given to you by neone6 and Vampothika...

Yes, so I did. As far as I know it's still over at my now x girlfriends house. Got into a verbal argument with her that resulted in a restraining order. I'm not allowed to get anything of mine from the house per the judge's orders. ![]()

I believe there's a way if a Sheriff/deputy or peace officer is present...but that might vary by state.

You probably have to do it through the Court, then. Ask your lawyer.

I asked the Sheriff and they said no.
kona, if there is property belonging to you at an address which is subject to restraint orders, you can apply for a police escort [to keep the peace] so you can collect those belongings. That is law pretty much anywhere you go these days. You obviously can not go there on your own, but the police dep't is obliged to assist you in retrieving your possessions. An inquiry with your local courthouse should advise as to how you would go about this... hopefully without issue.
All the best with it, mate.
Uggghhh, this came up as a newish post and I'm almost a year late. Hopefully all is resolved, then.

I , and how know its to late. As far as restore points programs seem to keep erasing those why, and how can I fix that. I do recommend poking your nose around as long you don't try changing anything you don't know; even though a backup would probably fix that. How do I get safemode in windows 10. The problem is probably simpy fixable with internet browser settings, and resetting your windows defender to default settings. I recommend doing this before you do anything just because it feels better when you solve the problem without help/ Working in safemode is nice considering most viruses don't work there. You probably should have two different browsers on the system in case one goes down. Not being able to access the internet sucks. Also I would recommend keeping a free virus checker not installed in your downloads since viruses seem to ignore programs that aren't running. Also at least one copy of your browser setup in your downloads just in case. It would even be safer to have these in a different folder. I just had to recover my computer because of a virus when I got back on the internet, so I may have no room to talk.

Uninstall Chrome, run a reg cleaner, reinstall Chrome and tell it to NOT keep your old settings. If you can't do that and/or have no Admin privileges, you're pissing in the wind and you are wasting your time, and ours.
In the future, if you want to run Chrome on some rig other than your own, I suggest putting PortableApps on a flashdrive and use the portable version.
