CS2 Giveaway.....maybe.

Happy Holidays

Wednesday, December 3, 2014 by Wizard1956 | Discussion: Everything Else

While cruising through Ben's Bargains this morning, I ran across this, which while not the latest and greatest, it is a great (cheap) deal if you want or need such software.

 Site removed - ID

It should be a great way to get your feet wet using Adobe Software without spending a fortune. Heck, who knows, maybe I'll make another wallpaper.

Note that it may be a huge download, it's taking me forever at 6Mbs.

I have a funny feeling that they put up CS2 that was downloaded back then when Adobe was clearing out its servers...

Not sure that site is kosher, Wiz...

I don't think this is a legit deal as this is for previous licensed users.

I don't think so, Doc. I don't think this offer has all the strings attached.

They are calling it a Black Friday deal and  It was provided to that site by Adobe just recently. Either way, once I get it downloaded and installed, I'll report back on any snags/special conditions if any occur.

Where are you seeing that restriction, Spencer?

Whatever Doc. It isn't a warez site, and was found on a very respectable site, being Ben's Bargains.

same serial number as well

googling for the AVG serial number turns out even better. it was a five-years-license back in 2013.

pretty sure it's a leaked volume license for a larger company.

warez YouTube video from last year: edited (will provide link as proof to authorities)

How long has the OP been a part of this community? I can't believe he fell for such a greenhorn trick.

I hope you have AV software because you are going to get burned if you keep on falling for obvious scams.

Wizard1956 is a deservedly well respected member of this community. He has a very good heart.

He was trying to help community members down on their luck or too poor to afford this type of imaging software.

If anything, any ire you might feel should be directed towards the Moderators of that deal site.

This isn't a "scam" per se, either.

It was that site's misuse of Adobe's (lazy) largess at the time that was made public by Adobe:

It was to licensed users only, but clearly there were abusers, and Wizard1956 clearly wasn't one of them.

Wiz...I know, and I.D. knows that your heart was in the right place.

Ok guys, I found this stuff on a legit site that I have made numerous LEGIT purchases from. I ASSUMED each deal was well researched before being offered. I have requested this post be removed.

 Carry On.

Damn straight...

Wiz is and always has been a very upstanding member of this community. And a very good friend to me, outside of WC.

He was , as Doc said, just trying to help.

On the Windows Blinds support forum, he said essentially the same thing to me, that I posted above (which he later deleted).

So, I know where his heart is....

Has it occurred to anyone else that IF the Adobe deal was illegitimate, and was the same deal as was posted back when, then it would likely be that Adobe would have blacklisted that serial long ago?

Unless, of course, Adobe is completely run by idiots.

As usual, things get out of hand.  Contrary to my PM's, I didn't accuse anyone of pirating or being an "idiot."

However, this is not legit deal.

Many sites have posted this as a "deal", and even I fell for it when it first came out.  It's not a deal, nor is it free to anyone.

I don't consider what wizard posted to be a post endorsing warez or anything like that.  It's just a mistake, and if anyone wants to continue their issues with it via PM go ahead before you're knocked off the site for some of the nastiness I'm getting.

Via Adobe:

Update on CS2 and Acrobat 7 Activation Servers

Effective December 13, Adobe disabled the activation server for CS2 products and Acrobat 7 because of a technical glitch. These products were released over 7 years ago and do not run on many modern operating systems. But to ensure that any customers activating those old versions can continue to use their software, we issued a serial number directly to those customers.  While this might be interpreted as Adobe giving away software for free, we did it to help our customers.

OK, I see. So Adobe aren't idiots, and their generosity to their loyal customers is being exploited by others who post the serial on other sites. (Not Wizard1956 who was trying to share a legit find.)

If Adobe blacklists the serial, loyal paid customers suffer.

Understood. Thanks, Spencer.

Thank you for clarifying that for me, ID.  CS2 was intended for Win2000 and XP anyway so it may well hose a Windows 8 install.  I'd feel better if the post was just nuked. I'd rather have a little radiation than  create problems for folks.

SORRY guys.  I'm a cheap bastard and just wanted to pass along what I thought was a good deal.
