I see one of the prizes is TGT Soft StylesXP software, I find that rather amusing.......... a free .dll hack.

There are a lot of other prizes - Stardock is contributing several OD subscriptions. I haven't seen any windowblind submissions as of yet. Some of the wonderfully talented skinners that hang out here would have a great chance at winning.

I can't believe not one person has expressed any interest in this. Is everyone burned out from the holidays?

The rules are pretty much contained in this thread http://www.hardwaregeeks.com/board/showthread.php?threadid=3685 . The Skins Factory - I believe I read in the thread that entries needed to be limited to those designed for the contest, or at least skins not completed prior to the start of the contest. You may want to take the time to read the entire thread. Deadzombie appears to be the moderator of the contest.

Would someone know what WindowsXP .msstyle extension is.

That was in the list of skin apps. and now I am looking for my thinking cap wondering what it is...

I think (only think!) it is the TG Soft hack .... but then, I'm not that sure.

A .msstyle extension is Luna and everyone with XP should have it in:

C:\WINDOWS\Resources\Themes\Luna

You can replace your .dll with the TGTsoft verison and add a few more color choices to the green - silver - blue if you want to.

Only a week left!

Ahh that explains a lot except what in the name of Sam Hill is TGT soft.

The designs that are posted are pretty outstanding. It would be hard to compete against those. There should be a rule prohibiting past designs because IMO that is cheating.

Submitting a skin that already has 100,000+ downloads is knowing how it will be accepted ahead of time or knowing the answers to a test before the test is handed out.

Ms. Delicious,

The contest is only accepting new skins for the contest - something that has not previously been released. Hope that helps.

bmetelsky, I didn't see that in the rules. They didn't mention new.

Here is a paste of one of the responses in the thread I pointed out above - the one focused on contest submissions, guidelines, etc. The pasted material is from deadzombie's reply to someone that asked about submitting a previously released skin....

The idea was to only have original skins..skins made specifically for the contest, to be allowed entry..that would keep someone from just whipping out a skin they won the GUI Olympics with last year, polishing it off and entering a proven award winning skin.

Starting from scratch levels the playing field for all..and regardless if the skin was released last week or two years ago, the rules need to apply the same to everyone.
