Not to say that WC's servers aren't good, they probably are. But the fact that they support ASP has no relevance. Any machine with IIS or Personal Web Server does. If you have XP, your computer supports ASP too.

Listen to paxmaster. Once you've got your own server you can stick anything on it you want. Now why they would opt for .asp... perhaps because the internal devs already had experience with it (that's about the only reason I can come up with).

Wasted Demon, I don't understand what you are trying to know. The hosting issue has nothing to do with the hardware issue.
If you are looking for a good hosting solution, I encourage you to consider the PHP technology, not the ASP technology, unless of course you are willing to spend several thousand dollars per month.
They are both equally valid. Except that ASP works on Microsoft SQL database servers (very expensive annual licences), while PHP works on almost anything including PostgreSQL and MySQL (free). Therefore hosting companies that offer PHP solutions will basically only charge you for bandwidth cost and hardisc space, while ASP solutions will charge you for the SQL licence additionnally. Unless you just use a MS Access database, which is hardly something to consider if you need scalability and stability (Access is slow, unstable and only allows 8 simultaneous connections).

As and example, a typical small MS SQL website with ASP may start hosting costs around 1000$/month, compared to less than 100$/month for the same bandwidth/discspace for a MySQL/PHP database.
