Yeah, Phoon. I expect a few people may not have known how to get the updates.

Apparently you can choose "Fast" on the tab for update speeds and skip directly to the most recent update. I did it on my AIO machine.

My other rig was set to slow, and I had to get the first update, then the most recent.

Obviously not much interest, other than you and I, Phoon.   

There's me interested as well.  Thing is, due to other things taking priority, etc, I haven't actually installed Win 10 as yet.  Was going to on my main rig a few weeks back, but that was much harder to get at than my 2nd rig, which currently has just 2 120gb SSDs in it and not enough room to accommodate another OS... and my spare HDDs are still packed/hard to get at right now so I'm going to have to wait a while longer to play with Win 10.  BUGGER!!!!!

Besides, I've had quite a few other distractions of late and don't spend alot of time on my PC anyhow.  Thing is, there may be a light at the end of the tunnel and Bianca and I may have a house to move into in the next week or so.  We have a good chance because others who have inspected it haven't been too interested in renting it, which I can't understand being it is in a great location close to transport, amenities and a major shopping centre.  And it's a really nice old style house with a great kitchen that's recently been renovated.  In fact, the whole house appears to have had some recent work, so there's not alot for us to do but just move in, all being in our favour, that is.

We should know in a couple of days if we have been successful, and if so, I shall set up a computer area and get back into it... with Win 10 high on my list of todos.  Once I've had a chance to evaluate it I'll get back somewhere on WC and share my thoughts.

For some reason, Tom can't get Win10 to install. Something about a media driver.

I am just an ordinary joe here. But just for fun, I downloaded win 10. Liking some of the features. I do not have a mike for Cortana, but I'll be sure to get one. I put it on an older desk top using a smaller screen. (Missing the big one). I had no issues with the install, I pretty much wiped every thing off the hard drive. So, I'll see. so far so good, to be continued.

ok.. I d/l curser plus, no problems. I d/l window blinds beta. all works well with this except for the start buttons.

Win 10 preview seems pretty good. Even all my win 8 Stardock apps still work (Object Dock , Object Desktop etc)!!

Just installed Windows Tech Preview 10166. Installed DreamScapes 8 on it and the dreams work great. I also have CursorFX and start 10 installed and they work as well. Also for anyone interested GadgetPack 8 works too.

In  all honesty, there's something seriously wrong with a company which places a special icon in your system tray to get W10, but hasn't got a simple and clear method of notifying those who are members of their "insider program" that there's a new build available.

I agree, Doc. I'm an "insider" and haven't received jack-squat.

What is your opinion so far Jim? I am dual booting it on my windows 7 machine and it seems to be running quite smoothly. I like that it is a lot faster than 7 but I still like the GUI of 7 better. Also is defender sufficient protection?

Ken, I don't much like 10. (build 10162)

Cortana isn't working well, if at all, with voice, some settings can be hard to find. I had to Google to find out how to set a screensaver.

The icons and GUI suck. I don't like the start menu. I get notified of notifications, go there, nuttin.

Microsoft Edge won't sync my IE Favorites Bar. It also didn't want to allow me to change the home page, took 4 tries to get it to "take".

What else can I say?

I haven't researched the use of Defender, but I prefer my own A/V program. I don't trust MS to keep me safe.

I'm currently running 10 in a single boot scenario on a "junk" PC with a dual core AMD CPU@ 2.8 GHz, 4 GB of DDR3 ram, and a 400 GB HDD. ATI Radeon HD 6450 graphics card.

As yet, no Stardock products installed. 

Actually, after 4 tries, Edge still won't use my homepage. It keeps reverting to it's default start page. Bye bye, Edge!!!  

Finally got Edge to accept my home page.

Got a notification for feedback on Edge, opened it, "Page Not Found".

I have not tried Cortana but I don't seem to be having the problems you had. I had no problem setting home page, I found screen saver settings without to much difficulty. I do agree though that the cosmetics suck. I am not about to jump into 10 yet and that is why I am dual booting.

I am single booting on a junk PC, since I have 6 other gaming PCs in the house running Windows 8.1. (For sale, hehe...)    And a new Dell laptop as well.

I also don't like that Edge won't allow any customization of the favorites bar, like short titles, or even rearrangement of links.
