Cheap a$$ brother

Monday, December 16, 2002 by jfghjk | Discussion: WinCustomize Talk

i do a lot of my work on my G4 Mac and I got an iPod and it is the coolest device I have ever seen. It holds tons of mp3s and I also can use it as a FireWire HD to transfer files between Macs.

I liked it so much that I got a Windows version to transfer files between my PCs and the one at work. It makes life so much easier.

Anyway, I decided to splurge and buy my 10 year old niece a Windows iPod (20G) and I called my brother about it. He said that he doesn't have a FireWire card and isn't about to go out and buy one just for that.

I'm not a rich man and it's a big hit on my bank account to spend $500+
on a Christmas present. But if I can do that, is it too much to ask for him to spend $69.99 or whatever to make it work?

Now I'm pissed. Anyway, I just needed to vent.....

Being a parent myself, I can say that sometimes that extra $70 can be too much. Most people have to budget for X-Mas and are pretty much out of funds by the time that they are done buying gifts.

Did you ask him about this before you bought it for her? That's a pretty expensive gift to give without talking to the parent before doing it.

By the way, please don't use $$ for SS and refrain from swearing. We try to keep this site clean

I never thought "ass" was swearing. What a bunch of prudes.....

No...not 'prudes'...but we kinda like to keep things vaguely personable.
Generally Thread topics 'need' to show a higher standard of decorum, as they are visible to all, whether clicked-on, or not...

But you weren't swearing, you were saying your brother was a that animal that looks like a small horse, right?
That's not swearing.

No, I am serious. In French, we have the same expression when somebody is an idiot, we say he asn ass ("âne"), the animal. Nothing to do with the body part.

Lets not start being too PC either. Because a word has another meaning in another context doesn't mean we should ban that word even when it's a clean word.

Ah...to use the Queen's English, and not that butchered American version...you are either an 'ass' or an 'arse'...and the meaning is quite distinct...

Wombat - When i was a kid the great but woefully undereducated baseball pitcher Dizzy Dean did TV color commentary on games. The elementary school teachers across America were so horrified at his diction and grammar, that they launched a nationwide teacher protest and eventually got him ousted from TV. By today's standards of what passes for English on American TV, "Ol' Diz" would have seemed like a polished gentleman!!

hmmmm using the word Hell in another thread I guess was not considered swearing?
I feel it's swearing because of the manner in the way it was used....... but again I did not see this thread here in the manner that this person used the word (ass) donkey
