I feel for your loss and wish something I say could help, but such a loss takes a big chunk from ones heart, very sorry for you.

i feel your grief. one of my worst days was when my beagle, oscar, passed. i have two older dogs, one is 14 and the other 13......mom and son. i know it won't be long before they pass. i'm sure when one passes the other will be gone soon thereafter because they are extremely close. i'm not looking forward to when that time comes. anyway, a pet to most people is like a child in the family. it's difficult to lose one. RIP Boda.

I grieve with you my friend. A dog named Tiny was given to my mom some years ago. She was so named because she was small enough to fit in the palm of your hand. Tiny lived for 18 years and was devoted to my mom. Her passing hurt every bit as much as losing a family member. Rest assured the memories remain strong. RIP Boda

I'm so sorry to hear this.  I had my dog Skipper.    [e digicons]:'([/e]

If I was there I would try to haul yourself off to a dog pound.  So many needy homeless puppies and mature dogs, but maybe one made for you.

I often think of the saying, "when someone goes to the great beyond, a baby is born."    Hope no offense was taken. None was meant.  Take care.

 "boda"  nice name.

Having experienced the loss of a faithful companion and member of our family just over a year ago I'm reminded of the following Rudyard Kipling poem:

The Power of the Dog

THERE is sorrow enough in the natural way From men and women to fill our day; And when we are certain of sorrow in store, Why do we always arrange for more? Brothers and sisters, I bid you beware Of giving your heart to a dog to tear.

Buy a pup and your money will buy Love unflinching that cannot lie Perfect passion and worship fed By a kick in the ribs or a pat on the head. Nevertheless it is hardly fair To risk your heart for a dog to tear.

When the fourteen years which Nature permits Are closing in asthma, or tumour, or fits, And the vet's unspoken prescription runs To lethal chambers or loaded guns, Then you will find - it's your own affair, - But ... you've given your heart to a dog to tear.

When the body that lived at your single will, With its whimper of welcome, is stilled (how still!), When the spirit that answered your every mood Is gone - wherever it goes - for good, You will discover how much you care, And will give your heart to a dog to tear!

We've sorrow enough in the natural way, When it comes to burying Christian clay. Our loves are not given, but only lent, At compound interest of cent per cent, Though it is not always the case, I believe, That the longer we've kept 'em, the more do we grieve; For, when debts are payable, right or wrong, A short-time loan is as bad as a long - So why in - Heaven (before we are there) Should we give our hearts to a dog to tear?

---  Rudyard Kipling

...I couldn't keep the old eyes dry just posting this.

Our thoughts are with you so sorry for your loss!

he was 13.6 years old he lived an awesome life I loved him dearly

what a lucky dog to have such fortune to have been your pal and lead such a rich, full life...

it's always excruciatingly hard to lose a family member... I have an array of beautifully crafted little wooden boxes on my chest of drawers with ashes of greatly loved furry family (dogs & cats) and even a feathered family member, a much loved cockatiel....who will be buried with me one day.

My last loss was a cat... 18 1/2 years together... I must admit I was gutted...she was my first cat... taken in for the night at 12 weeks when her owner was having a birthday party and thought it would be too loud and scare her... she never came back for her, fortunately).. she was a very close, bonded cat.  Swore I wouldn't have another... and it took almost a year before I read a beautiful poem on the loss of a cat from the cat's point of view asking their owner to replace them.. and why...  Pity I can't find the poem.. it was so well written...  I decided to honour her by saving another off death row... he hasn't replaced her.. never will.. but he's a fabulous little boy who has put his own stamp on the family and it did help ease the loss....  I hope in time, you do the same... there is some very lucky dog sitting somewhere waiting for you to find him and give him a well deserved life like BODA...

RIP BODA... and heartfelt condolences to you...

I find it hard to find the words at times like this, but I do feel for you.  I have lost a couple of pets over the years and I recall how it made me feel.

Maybe when the time is right you can take in a pup or dog that needs a home.  He/she will never replace your beloved Boda in your heart, but he or she would bring some love and companionship back into your life.

The only consolation you can take at a time like this is knowing that your dog was loved and cared for all his life, a priveledge not afforded to all dogs, unfortunately. This is the thought I try to keep in my head after losing my 15 year old Golden Retriever less than a month ago.

I have decided not to get another dog, as I am too old now, and not healthy enough to exercise one. But if you are young enough, maybe it would be a good thing to give a homeless dog some love?

Time is the only healer...........
